Jason Campbell

Sorry, Jason Campbell-Hating Skins Fans, You Still Have to Root for Jason Campbell

Remember how the Redskins traded Jason Campbell to Oakland for a fourth-round pick in 2012? Well, John Clayton is reporting that the pick is contingent upon some long-shot conditions:

For the Redskins to get that fourth-round pick, the Raiders would either have to make the playoffs or Campbell would have to go to the Pro Bowl. Odds of that are about as good as JaMarcus Russell being on the Raiders’ roster this fall.

So Washington only gets the fourth-rounder if a team that has had a losing record for seven straight seasons makes the playoffs or a QB who was just traded for next to nothing makes the Pro Bowl. Sweet.

Rick Maese’s information disputes the report, but if it holds up Redskins fans will finally be united on something that has divided them for years — rooting for Jason Campbell.

D.C. sports fan and digital media guy that's been doing this since 2004. Once threw a football further than Chris Cooley.

Id like that little contingent to be called “The Vinney Cerrato in the Machine” clause.

so we pretty much gave him to the raiders for nothing. Fail.

It seems insane that the Skins couldn’t get anything for Campbell. I predict if he isn’t the starter by the end of camp, he will be by midseason.

If this is true this is by far the worst trade ever

This is so far from the truth. They get the fourth no matter what he does.

Jason stinks. He will stink in Oakland. He will not go to the Pro-Bowl. The Redskins will receive exactly what he’s worth. Nothing.

Erroneous! We get their 4th unless Campbell fails the physical.

This isn’t even possible. If the skins thought Campbell even had an outside chance of making the probowl next year they never would have traded him. Trading him with those contingencies doesn’t even make sense. You probably overheard someone making a joke and thought they were serious. Use your head man, there is no way this is true.

As a Raiders fan – I’m jacked over Jason coming to the Silver and Black! I’m convinced he’s going to have a break-out year! The Raiders might even win more games than the skins.

With his down field arm.(Campbell) And the young speedy receivers that Oakland has,,Could be interesting. You know Al likes to go deep..Oh one thing..Can they block long enough for him the throw it deep.

Ya gotta like Jason. For some reason the odds always seemed stacked against him. The only thing that I never liked about him is that he seemed to make egregious errors like throw interceptions or fumble at the end of games. Lord knows much of what happened to him is reminiscent of Doug Williams. He spent a lot of his time on his back or being hurried due to a lack of protection!

Maybe this kid will actually have a chance in Oakland. I went to the game in Oakland last season were he spent as much time on his back as he did under center. He was picking himself up off the ground every play!

Redskins ,you have made a big mistake by trading Jason who never had a line to block for him.All those crippled and overrated line men.The sorreist defensive back field and a 500 pound nothing tackle. Dan syder send some of that money you wasted on so called players so I can pay my mortage.Iuse to like the redskins thanks to the simpley cannot bye a championship, you must obtain the right formula.

I wish Jason Campbell the best. I don’t think the constent change helped him,the big problem is he takes too long with his throwing process. I think he takes to long to process what he sees on defense. He misses open receivers all the time, even when the line was better. If he doesn’t protect the ball he’ll have troble being more than one who holds the job until the team looks for another QB.He needs yo shorten his motion or atleast hold the ball higher. He seems to be a quality person wjth sme talent, I wish him the best!

I wish Jason all the luck in the world. I, being a life long Skins fan, would have liked to see him operate with an expirianced O-line. The Redskins set him up to fail when they did not draft him help!!!!! Good Luck JC!!!!
