Pittsburgh Is for Whores

Skins-Steelers Matinee Winners & Losers

I’ve been searching and digging and dying for something to write about tonight’s game, but really, there’s not much left to be said. It’s obviously a big game, I’m incredibly excited for it, and god dammit, I hope Santana is able to go, but with the outcome of an event much, much larger looming about 24 hours from kick-off, this game has taken on a different feel. Maybe that’s what people call “perspective.” I don’t know. I do know I’m thankful for the temporary distraction from the race to 270, (save for Berman’s hard-hitting halftime interviews).

Oh, and I’m thankful for this:

Has it finally happened? Word has it that the Redskins are expected to wear burgundy pants and burgundy jerseys for Monday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It would be the first time–at least in recent memory–that the team would wear burgundy on burgundy uniforms.

Players have talked about wearing burgundy on burgundy for years, and earlier this season Jim Zorn indicated it would be a possibility for cold weather games.

That’s from Redskins.com, so you’d think they could, like, walk down the hall and ask someone if it has “finally happened.” But I guess we shall find out soon enough. In the meantime, please feel free to pepper the comments with your thoughts before, during and after the game. We’ll be back with the real Winners & Losers post sometime tomorrow morning.

Go Skins.

UPDATE: It’s official, they will wear the all burgundy.

If we wear burgundy on burgundy my head will explode. And it will be good.

Your tags are making Gallo uncomfortable again.

I couldn’t write a post about the Steelers without making mention of the abundance of whores in that city. I thought the tag was subtle though.

“the abundance of whores in that city”

I knew I should have hung out with more locals at Pitt.

    A) Burgundy on Burgundy sounds like a featurette on the “Anchorman” DVD.

    B) It is a terrible, terrible idea. Only two-bit college teams and the Seahawks do this. I was never comfortable with the white/white combo, to be honest. Grrr.

Cris Carter just said he picks the Steelers in this game because they have the healthier running back. Apparently it’s better to be sitting on the bench for a month unable to play than to be racking up 125+ yard games every week while a bit sore.

Loser: Carlos Rogers. Once again his weaknesses shine through. Miscoverage on a bomb and a dropped int that would have gone for a td. Thanks los

After ‘Los dropped that 100% bonafide would-have-been-a-pick-six, it was all downhill. That was an abortion of the game. Leftwich just took our secondary to school.

Losers: The Redskins faithful who either sold or gave there tickets to all those Steelers fans. I understand that the Steelers are one of those teams that travel well, but that was ridiculous.

Also, I’m not superstitous or anything, but the burgandy on burgandy was bad news. All though it looks tight as hell, they were 6-1 or 5-1 in the all whites (I think). Why go and ruin a good thing?

One more thing. Was one of the Mottrams in attendance tonight in the end zone wearing a black fleece? ESPN showed a young chap as I described and it looked like a Mottram.
