Scenes From an Open Redskins Practice

To someone who hasn’t been around a lot of NFL teams in July (e.g. me), every NFL team looks great in July. So it was with my first Redskins practice in years. Words and pics from Saturday morning’s open session …

This tent is one of the first things fans pass upon entering Redskins Park. It’s a nice photo op for the kids, who can put their heads on the bodies of Chris Cooley, Santana Moss and Clinton Portis. It’s also missing a player in the open space between Cooley and Moss. That’s where an Albert Haynesworth dummy reportedly stood as recently as last week.

I almost didn’t recognize him without a bullhorn in one hand and a traffic cone full of Crown in the other, but that right there is The Mayor of FedEx Field. I know so because of the t-shirt, you see.

Speaking of self-made Redskins t-shirts, this is Skinsfan44’s. He was in the VIP section, naturally.

I was so excited to see LaRon Landry’s new bat-shit crazy calf tattoos … until realizing they were just some newfangled medical tape.

Speaking of calves, 360-pound Anthony Bryant has the biggest I’ve seen.

The day after signing his $60 million deal, Silverback Williams stuck around to sign more autographs than anyone.

Kareem Moore seems pretty chill.

Besides Donovan McNabb — who appears to throw the ball twice as well as any other Redskins quarterback, by the way — the man we were all hoping to see was Albert Haynesworth. There he is.

D.C. sports fan and digital media guy that's been doing this since 2004. Once threw a football further than Chris Cooley.

Just wait until he has guys rushing him that actually want to tackle him. That’ll all change real quick. Balls will start sailing or going into the dirt 2 yards in front of the intended target. Mark it down, I’ll guarantee it!
