The inevitable went down last night, as you may have heard, with the Redskins signing Mike Shanahan to five-year deal to be their next head coach. He’ll make $7 million per year, or about half-a-mil for every win he records because THE SKINS ARE TOTALLY GOING 14-2 NEXT YEAR OFFSEASON CHAMPS!
Joining Mike is his son Kyle, who is younger than Jamie and will be the new offensive coordinator. Kyle comes from Houston, where the Texans’ offense was 2nd in the AFC in yards/game and 5th in points/game. So yeah, I guess he did alright down there. They also had the most prolific passing attack in the NFL, something he can surely replicate in Washington with our stable of Andre Johnson-like receivers and Sam Bradford under center.
Other coaches rumored to be coming to Asburn include current Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer (please god yes), whose contract expires after the postseason, and former Saints coach/current Florida Tuskers (UFL) coach Jim Haslett.
On the offseason to-do list, we’ve now marked off two of the biggest tasks: fire/replace Vinny Cerrato; fire/replace Jim Zorn. Next up: sign Jason Campbell; draft offensive linemen.
