Mike Shanahan

[Mandatory ‘YAY Shanahan Hired’ Post]

The inevitable went down last night, as you may have heard, with the Redskins signing Mike Shanahan to five-year deal to be their next head coach. He’ll make $7 million per year, or about half-a-mil for every win he records because THE SKINS ARE TOTALLY GOING 14-2 NEXT YEAR OFFSEASON CHAMPS!

Joining Mike is his son Kyle, who is younger than Jamie and will be the new offensive coordinator. Kyle comes from Houston, where the Texans’ offense was 2nd in the AFC in yards/game and 5th in points/game. So yeah, I guess he did alright down there. They also had the most prolific passing attack in the NFL, something he can surely replicate in Washington with our stable of Andre Johnson-like receivers and Sam Bradford under center.

Other coaches rumored to be coming to Asburn include current Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer (please god yes), whose contract expires after the postseason, and former Saints coach/current Florida Tuskers (UFL) coach Jim Haslett.

On the offseason to-do list, we’ve now marked off two of the biggest tasks: fire/replace Vinny Cerrato; fire/replace Jim Zorn. Next up: sign Jason Campbell; draft offensive linemen.

But for now, let’s rejoice in what’s already been accomplished. I’m excited. The players are excited. And Mike Shanahan is excited (to meet Lindsay Czarniak).

The rest of the to do list –

    – Extend Campbell
    – Cut Portis, Sellers, Samuels, Daniels, Wynn, ARE, R Thomas, Griffin
    – Trade Cooley for picks. We only have 5 this year and need at least 3 OL.
    – Draft Okung or trade down and draft several more OL.
    – Tell Clausen and Bradford to eat shit
    – Upgrade jumbotron
    – Go back to 78,000 seats at FedEx or Move back to RFK

Trade Davis rather than Cooley. I don’t want my jersey to be meaningless again and he’s also the most popular guy in the locker room

Lindsay Czarniak is a Stalker. She was outside peering through a window video tapping Snyder and Shanahan. Atleast we know if her days are numbered in Washington she can go out to California and work for TMZ.

Stalker. A very Hot Annoying Stalker.

I hope they don’t forget to tell Landry to get lost and never, ever come back. Ever.

Lets not go getting excited about Kyle. Sure, he was promoted three times in as many years (WRs Coach > QB Coach > OC). But, Kubiak was largely responsible for the Texans offense. Basically, Kyle had one season of OC duties, and even then he didn’t have final say.

Also keep in mind Schaub/Johnson is not comparable to any QB/WR combination on the current skins roster. Not. Even. Close.

Tark: Didn’t I point that out, sarcastically, with this line: “he can surely replicate in Washington with our stable of Andre Johnson-like receivers and Sam Bradford under center.”
