Redskins Make Free Agent Ripple, Sign Defensive Tackle Ma’ake Kemoeatu

The conservative offseason approach continues, as the Skins signed defensive tackle Ma’ake Kemoeatu to a two-year, $7 million deal today. We admittedly know very little about Kemoeatu, but he was a four-year starter (one in Baltimore, three in Carolina) before rupturing his Achilles last offseason and missing all of last year.

So, yeah, none of that is overly exciting, but there is this point, brought up by Rick Maese: In the Redskins new 3-4 defense, Kemoeatu can play nose tackle, freeing up Haynesworth to play defensive end. That’s the position Albert would prefer to play. And a happy Albert is a successful Albert.

Plus, he is a big, warm body that has been part of very good defensive lines and helps fill a position where the Skins need help.

Like Artis Hicks before him, he is a lineman and one I’ve barely heard of, so I am happy.

Potential starting DL of Daniels, Kemoeatu and Big Al. That’s half a ton of beef up front. Nasty!
