Clinton Portis

It’s a Clinton Portis Thanksgiving

Earlier today I mentioned that the key to Washington’s slim playoff hopes is getting Portie back and riding him to the postseason like they did in ’05 and ’07. Well, so much for that.

Portis is going on injured reserve and may be done playing for the Redskins. So let’s look back, shall we, at some of the enduring images from CP’s time in Burgundy & Gold that overlapped with our time here on WordPress …

Modeling our t-shirt:

Flipping into the end zone:

With me at a Super Bowl party:

Sporting a Sisqo-esque look:

Expressing swine flu concerns:

Saying his alma mater:

Looking like a tadpole:

Playing dress-up:

Revealing new characters (one of which looked a lot like me):

Pouting during a loss to St. Louis:

With Philly fans before beating the Eagles:

Paying tribute to Sean Taylor:

D.C. sports fan and digital media guy that's been doing this since 2004. Once threw a football further than Chris Cooley.

bye. thanks for the memories of a 60+ yard td run on your first touch as a Redksin, the ST21 tribute, killing fools everytime they blitzed, and the fact that you didnt take care of your body and had coaches run you ragged and are now more than likely done as player in the NFL.

Is Portis the best ever at picking up blitzing linebackers and safeties? I think so.

Tough loss. Best (or at least the most vicious) pass blocker to play RB.

Still one of my all time favorite Redskins. Shame we couldnt always put together a team that took advantage of his talents. He still gave it his all every Sunday. Loved to watch him level blitzing players, best pass blocking RB in a while, maybe ever. Maybe he will be back one more year. Wouldnt mind seeing him come back in some fashion next year.

this is bittersweet and long overdue news. love the guy, but it’s best if the skins move on w/o him. bring back gerald riggs!! or at least draft a nasty fast dude like all the other teams have

Clinton Portis = great. I’m thankful for everything that man gave on the field for the Washington Redskins. Can’t wait to hear that they’ve negotiated a fair price deal to keep him with the team in whatever role makes sense.

Glad that the last time my son and I will see Portis play was the Texans game, where he scored two TDs in the first half. A true player who respected the game.
My hope is that Clinton was smart with his money and simply retires rather than trying to keep it going with some other team – Don’t be another Willie Parker, Larry Johnson, Brian Westbrook, etc.!
