  1. But it really isn’t a slur. :(

Not anymore, anyway. I mean, how can it be a slur if no one ever actually uses it as a slur? I’ve heard a lot of different words used to denigrate a lot of different races, but I’ve never, ever heard anyone use the word “redskin” unless it was in reference to the team or the potato.

While it probably was a slur back when that incredibly racist cunt scab George Preston Marshall named the team and he most likely meant it that way, sometimes words evolve and change meaning. I am of the opinion that that’s what happened with “redskin”.

Having said that, I recognize that I don’t have the right to tell someone what they can and cannot be offended by. And I do think that it’s probably wrong to use Native Americans, in general, as sports mascots.

    1. SMH, here come the PC police at Mister Irrelevant with their Liberal agenda, there are bigger problems in the world. I have lots of Native American friends, and they are Native Americans who are fine with it. They have told me that words only have the power we give them, and that it’s actually a term of honor/pride. This whole debate is a slippery slope because there are other racist pro team names/logos….I mean Oklahoma is actually a racist name too. I don’t find it offensive because it’s not a slur, it’s just a physical description, and I mean the name has majority support in polls. Are there even races anymore? Aren’t we all just Americans? Changing the name won’t solve all racism everywhere and people say it is a slur, but rap music has the n-word. Pray, how does the Indian-killer Jackson fulfill your idea of a harmonious role model? What about the new foundation? It’s about our roots as skins fans, and we need to stay true to the team’s history. In the end *yawn* it’s Snyder’s team, he can do what he wants. #HTTR #tcot #Fags

        1. That’s about the biggest honor I could possibly hope for as a commenter, thanks Señor Mottram. As long as MI and the Bog exist I will be happy, so keep up the good work.

  2. It’s baseball season.

You’re only further empowering our incompetent football organization by marketing the shitty product two months into the offseason.
