    Mike Wise And Redskins Reporter Rich Tandler Get Pissy On Twitter

    This is about as juicy a D.C. media Twitter beef as you’ll ever have tweetside seats to. For context, what Comcast SportsNet Redskins reporter Rich Tandler is referring to is Mike Wise’s Redskins column in today’s Washington Post. I didn’t find it overly offensive, but whatever: TWITTER BEEF!

      Question still remains does Wise actually believe what he’s saying (which makes him stupid but at least honest and thus acceptable in making people upset) or is he trolling for clicks/tv time/etc (in which case he shouldn’t have a column).

      No way Wise believes what he’s writing. He’s going full Pro-wrestling Heel mode now. The angry guy who got booted from radio. Telling Native Americans what they should be offended about. Telling us the collusion with NFL owners is ok when only the teams in the head of a certain committee’s team are nailed.

      Its brutal and feels like they are trying some sort of bad-cop routine at the WaPo right now. Then again, imagine Wise trying to be like this in Pittsburgh or a real blue collar town? He’d be ordering all his meals in because it wouldn’t be safe to go out.

      If this isn’t an act, then its a sad state of things.

      The fact that Wise had the audacity to accuse someone else of being smarmy is a great example of his total lack of self awareness.

      Wise suffers from “Smartest Guy in the Room” syndrome. In an alternate universe, he’s a social-darwinist republican and becomes CEO of Enron.

      Instead, in this universe, we get his rote, intolerable moral pontificating from the WaPo soapbox.

      In a just world, Feinstein leave the Post to start a new sports site called “Finger Wag Sports: The Internet’s home for pearl clutching know-it-alls!” and takes Wise with him, Jason Reid fulfills his career ambition of become Bleacher Reports 1st Lifestyle Editor, and the post promotes Srluga and Shenin to columnists.

      Mike Wise continues a Washington Post tradition of total derision for all Redskins fans, and the espousal of twisted, outlandish, and idiotic ideas which are improperly presented as a voice of reason. This is the same pattern followed by Sally Jenkins or Michael “I wish everything was Chicago” Wilbon.

      Nobody wants the hometown sports writers to be American versions of Baghdad Bob, or Kevin Bacon at the end of Animal House shouting “all is well!” in the midst of a riot. There are tasteful ways to point out fallacies, problems, injustices, etc. Typically the tasteful methods don’t begin with assuming that everybody who reads your article or holds a viewpoint which differs from your own isn’t as intelligent as you are.

      It makes people such as Mike Wise come off as pompous jerks who are grinding an axe just to stir up the villagers and their pitchforks.

      Wise is a Class A douche. I also never listened to him and I don’t read his crap. I don’t know what his column said, but I am sure it sucked.

      So trolling/BleacherReporting is the the new pathway to relevance at the Post these days? While Wise’s column didn’t quite descend to Tracee Hamilton levels of ridiculousness, it certainly took several steps in that direction.
      Anytime your arrows are pointing in a Hamiltonian direction, you need to step back and contemplate exactly where you’ve gone wrong as a “journalist”.

      Mike Wise is a good writer.

      Radio life made him into somewhat of an a-hole, and once in a while, it poisoned his columns.

      You’dve hoped that without the radio show, he’d get back to being a writer, but it seems like the guy’s gotten worse, if anything.

      Mike, I’m sure you miss the extra income… maybe you miss reaching the segment of the population that’s too dumb to read your columns… but if all you’re gonna do is become a bitter old man who needles the locals & ‘drops truth’ on the unenlightened, move to Jerkwater and ruin their paper instead

      Remember Mike is the dochebag who asked Robert Griffin in a press conference why he would not stand up against the Redskins name. Then apparently apologized to Robert privately. Mike should have apologized publicly if he asked the idiotic question in public.
