Danny Smith Is Finally Packing Shit, Getting Out
By Jamie Mottram | January 30, 2013

This is very relevant to our interests:
Per @DanHellie – #Redskins ST Coordinator Danny Smith is leaving for the #Steelers. Danny has been unavailable for comment so far.
To which I say, it’s about damn time.

I’ve been amazed that the football insiders generally say he is “highly regarded” by his peers. Not sure how when the Skins have been in te bottom third in ST for like 5 or 6 years.

I think he sucks, but the majority of special teams players are depth players that aren’t starters. The Redskins have been built with zero depth for the past 14 years. They are always one starter being injured away from a 6-10 season. Not to mention the depth has to be cheap enough to be under the Cap with all the shitty deals over the years. I think he should have been gone years ago, but he never had a GM to give him a decent enough group of special teams players.
