    DMV: Michal Neuvirth Said Things

    By Jamie Mottram | August 21, 2012

    Goalie of the past/future Michal Neuvirth calls Braden Holtby his “weakest competition” yet as a Caps goalie. He also “advised Tomas Vokoun to go to Pittsburgh.” Oh, and he slammed Alex Semin, said Alex Ovechkin “isn’t what he used to be,” and is glad Dale Hunter left. [RMNB, RMNB]

      @Chad C…

      I was thinking the same thing last night watching the game.

      WINNERS

      Jason Werth – Ever since coming back from his broken wrist he’s been the hardest Nat to get out. Last night 2 for 5 and batting .318. He keeps this this pace in October and all of last season will be forgiven. Robbed of a grand slam.

      Ryan Zimmerman – 2 for 4 and has increased his average to .283. Seemed impossible a few months ago before the cortisone shot.

      Ian Desmond – 2 for 5 and a big home run in the first. If he can get back quickly to where he was before the injury our line up would be amongst the leagues best offensively.

      Entire Nats Bullpen – Worked out of multiple errors and jams to provide EIGHT scoreless innings.

      Me – Watching the entire game and going for Strasmas tonight.

      MEDIUM –

      Kurt Suzuki – He threw out a runner in the early innings and went 2 for 6, but this guy is a liability on the plate.

      Bryce Harper – Hit an early RBI single, but was showing signs of the frustration that caused his recent slump. Not only did he smash his bat, but before that at bat he was speaking to his bat Pedro Cerrano style. The guy needs to be patience and let the game come to him.

      LOSERS

      Jordan Zimmerman – I guess four runs could be worse, but having an early exit will put a strain on the bullpen in an important series.

      Morse – 0 for 6, but still looking great in his pre game slow mo pre bat stance. Guy has the star quality to move potentially past Zimmerman as the fan favorite.

      According to Braves fans, the Nats are the luckiest team in baseball.

      Nats wins above WAR projection: 2
      Braves wins above WAR projection: 5
