Redskins-Bills Open Thread
By Jamie Mottram | August 9, 2012

The Insider says there are five areas to watch and Hog Haven says there are five non-starters to watch, but I think we all just want to see RGIII do well and hope that he goes all Mark Rypien on Buffalo, at least for “12-20 plays.”
Kickoff: 7 p.m. ET
TV: Comcast SportsNet (unless you don’t live in-market, in which case you can stream it on NFL.com for $20 or illegally for free)
Line: Redskins -3 (love that there are preseason gambling lines)
Beer: I’ll be having an assortment of IPA via my grocery store’s new make-your-own six-pack offering that pretty much changed my life.

Time for the offseason postseason!
August 9th, 2012 at 5:54 PM
I mean, what has this RG3 character done yet? Overhyped!
August 9th, 2012 at 5:54 PM
Figures, Angelos and the Orioles would call up Machado today, to try and distract the rare Redskins/Oriole fans out there.
August 9th, 2012 at 5:56 PM
Step 1) Leave work. 2) Pick up Vaces and beer. 3) Watch RGIII for six minutes.

Gold Pants. Officially excited.
August 9th, 2012 at 6:19 PM
My brother bought Landshark. God damnit.
August 9th, 2012 at 6:47 PM
I think I’m out of practice. All I have is fake “buffalo wings” and wine.
August 9th, 2012 at 6:51 PM
On another note I like Tarik el Bashir but I miss KJ.
August 9th, 2012 at 6:54 PM
I haven’t listened to Lavar in 2 weeks. I feel better about life.
August 9th, 2012 at 7:01 PM
I am way too excited for a preseason game.
Agreed on TEB and miss KJ also.
A lot of hopes but biggest one is good work and no injuries
August 9th, 2012 at 7:15 PM
Aaaaand I can’t seem to find a good illegal stream. Thanks, NFL!
August 9th, 2012 at 7:17 PM

August 9th, 2012 at 7:21 PM

August 9th, 2012 at 7:23 PM
espn NFL boxscores has Cedric Griffin starting at redskins qb. apparently, C. Griffin (CB) is 1/2 for 12 yards.
August 9th, 2012 at 7:25 PM
Hey Jaime… what are your thoughts on a Live Blog come season opener?
August 9th, 2012 at 7:27 PM
Bless you, Messi. That site’s working for me.
August 9th, 2012 at 7:29 PM
My pleasure. did you see Garcon out there? he looks HUGE!. like Terry Orr or James Jenkins out there ;)
August 9th, 2012 at 7:31 PM
I honestly thought he was Fred Davis until the announcer said his name.
August 9th, 2012 at 7:33 PM
Bob and Garcon seem to have something going on.
August 9th, 2012 at 7:33 PM
Viva los Redskins!
August 9th, 2012 at 7:34 PM
Garcon just shattered his hip bone on that flip.
August 9th, 2012 at 7:35 PM
he must do yoga.
August 9th, 2012 at 7:35 PM
oh my goodness. it feels so nice to be a quarter of a bottle of wild turkey in with a redskins lead. i am in midseason form.
August 9th, 2012 at 7:36 PM
Okay, pull RGIII now. He’s done enough for us to be completely delusional for another week.
August 9th, 2012 at 7:36 PM
Cedric Griffin with his first redskins td:

August 9th, 2012 at 7:38 PM
Chandler thinks he is a Gronk brother? Geez.
August 9th, 2012 at 7:39 PM
DeAngelo in the slot is a no brainer.
August 9th, 2012 at 7:39 PM
Holy crap that was a great catch by Chandler.
August 9th, 2012 at 7:41 PM
Kerrigan looking hydrated.
August 9th, 2012 at 7:42 PM
Grossman inside the 5? Goodbye first lead of the year!
August 9th, 2012 at 7:42 PM
Banks needs to go.
August 9th, 2012 at 7:44 PM
Did Banks graduate from the D. Sanders school of fair catching?
August 9th, 2012 at 7:46 PM
was that Ovie wearing an Elvis suit?
August 9th, 2012 at 7:47 PM
@ Beer “Grossman inside the 5? Goodbye first lead of the year!”:
are you psychic?
August 9th, 2012 at 7:49 PM
I thought that was just common sense considering our sterling QB play last year. Yikes. I has to be because I’m an idiot.
August 9th, 2012 at 8:01 PM
Okay Rex needs to be done. We all know what he can (or can’t) do.
August 9th, 2012 at 8:01 PM
just noticed the collared polo shirt-look on the skins new uni. it disagrees with me.
August 9th, 2012 at 8:02 PM
Bills have it too. Looks ok on their uni’s.
August 9th, 2012 at 8:02 PM
@Jules: agreed. i think it’s time for Gus Frerr… i mean Kirk Cousins.
August 9th, 2012 at 8:05 PM
If the ‘collar’ was gold to match the pants I might get on board with it.
August 9th, 2012 at 8:16 PM
So…punt returns are going well.
August 9th, 2012 at 8:18 PM
Wtf? Enough with Banks already.
August 9th, 2012 at 8:19 PM
enough of Danny Smith.
August 9th, 2012 at 8:23 PM
Rob Jackson being manhandled all game.
August 9th, 2012 at 8:24 PM
Nice goal line defense.
August 9th, 2012 at 8:26 PM
Lovin’ me some Chris Baker. dude doesn’t even fit inside his uniform
August 9th, 2012 at 8:27 PM
Thigpen < Charlie Brown's pigpen
August 9th, 2012 at 8:29 PM
Kirk here….
August 9th, 2012 at 8:32 PM
Ouch Kirk.
August 9th, 2012 at 8:46 PM
Don’t they send former players turned broadcasters to some sort of training? Did ARE miss his class?
August 9th, 2012 at 8:55 PM
@JDP, see: Joey T and Lavar.
August 9th, 2012 at 8:57 PM
Lavar is far better than that Randal-El performance. Lavar I think actually has some good insight just doesn’t articulate it particularly well. ARE was just braindead on camera.
August 9th, 2012 at 9:01 PM
Just like he was on punt returns. Agree about Lavar actually but when he’s paired with Chad Dukes he sounds like a fucking idiot.
August 9th, 2012 at 9:23 PM
Thank you Messi, the eastern shore of MD doesn’t have fucking csn so the link was mighty helpful
August 9th, 2012 at 10:01 PM
Yancy Thigpen > Tyler Thigpen
August 9th, 2012 at 10:11 PM
The announcers on this Canadian channel or whatever this is are atrocious though. They thought the skins would take knees…..in the preseason
August 9th, 2012 at 10:12 PM
With 2 minutes left.
August 9th, 2012 at 10:14 PM
And now I feel retarded because they did take a knee twice.
August 9th, 2012 at 10:34 PM
Ha, thanks for coming out guys. This was 4x the number of comments we had on our first preseason Open Thread post last year. I wonder what possibly could’ve been the difference.
