Vintage ‘Redskins Saturday Night’ Video Starring Tony Kornheiser
By Jamie Mottram | May 18, 2012
There’s much enjoyment to be had in this three-minute clip of “Redskins Saturday Night” from the mid-’80s. First, there’s Rich Milot and George Starke, two regulars from the Joe Gibbs glory years, plus George Starke’s hat. Then there’s Champions Sports Bar, a Georgetown institution, full of boozy Washington and Dallas fans. Next, there’s Tony Kornheiser cracking wise and even Don Geronimo getting Mike O’Meara on the phone for a tired Arnold Schwarzenegger impression.
Good stuff all around. Feel free to go down the YouTube wormhole for more, and let me know what you find. I was too young to remember this show, but it seems like a doozy. And nice Monty Hall reference, Mr. Tony.
(Many thanks to reader jon forrester for tipping us off to this.)

Those were the good old days. I’ve never looked better!

Champions is also where the notorious Capitals limo sexual assault happened. Dino Cicerelli, Geoff Courtnall, Neil Sheehy, and Scott Stevens were all gone within a year.

because I’m obsessive I did some quick research and seems like it’s 1986 and the Cowboys won the game, 30-6

I once destroyed a chair in that bar after the Duke-MD game in which Duke erased a 10 pt deficit in the final minute….the owner never said a word to me…he understood. I miss that place.

The guy who uploaded it says it’s from 1995, but based on those clothes and hairstyles, I doubt it.

I can’t look at Pete Wysocki without thinking of Irwin R. Schyster/Michael Wall Street/Mike Rotunda from the WWF/WCW.

Little known fact. Hulk Hogan’s “I am a real American” theme song was originally used for the US Express (Mike Rotunda and Barry Windham) before Windham left for WCW.

Oh Don and Mike, God how I miss those guys. Radio is just plain horrible anymore.
That and the whole Redskins being good. I miss that too.
