Old Redskins Safety Todd Bowles Is The New Dolphins Head Coach

    By Jamie Mottram | December 15, 2011

There hasn’t been much coverage of this in the D.C. market, but it’s worth mentioning that Todd Bowles is interim coach of the Dolphins. It doesn’t sound like Bowles is long for the job, though, so enjoy it while it lasts.

Bowles was a starter on the Super Bowl XXII Redskins and played safety for them from 1986-’90. What’s also interesting is what that defensive backs group has gone on to do.

Bowles is now a head coach. Martin Mayhew is Detroit’s GM. Darrell Green is a Hall of Famer. Brian Davis is a chill bro. Anyone heard from Barry Wilburn?

I think that is him, actually. Same age, at least.

It’s a damn shame then – he was a coaching intern at Howard back in 2007.

What about Alvin Walton? Does he still have a mohawk?

No idea what became of Alvin Walton, though I am pleased to report that this site is the No. 1 Google result for “alvin walton mohawk.”

Unfortunately that mugshot does resemble Barry Wilburn of Redskins fame.
