DMV: Ian Desmond’s Very Big Weekend

Ian Desmond has had a crappy year, but the Nats beat Philly and took the series thanks in part to his ninth inning, two-out, two-strike, game-tying homer. The day after Ian Desmond Bobblehead Day, no less!* [WaPo, NE]

Correction: Desmond Bobblehead Day was actually Saturday (see below). This post has been updated to reflect the error.

* The only thing funnier than the Nats having Ian Desmond Bobblehead Day is the Nats having Ian Desmond Bobblehead Day when Nats Park is invaded by Philly fans. Reminds me of the time I went to Pittsburgh and got a Jack Wilson bobblehead. Jack Wilson! Nice park, though.

  1. Except, Ian Desomnd bobble-head day was the night before when the Nats lost 5-0 thanks in large part to an Ian Desmond error.

  2. Finally made it to the new Nats park (I know right?) Anyway when Espinosa hit that 440-foot monster we had a perfect view from that little CF porch they have. And we were going “Schwimmmmer” and making ‘Friends’ jokes (is that Joey in Right?) And the Philly fans were getting mad
