DMV: Redskins Make First-Day FA Splash By Signing Giants DT Barry Cofield

    By Jamie Mottram | July 27, 2011

Word is the Skins are giving Giants 4-3 DT Barry Cofield a six-year deal with $12.5 million guaranteed. Cofield, 27, was drafted in the fourth round by New York in 2006 and hasn’t yet played NT in a 3-4 scheme. The hope here is that he makes up for Jessie Armstead. [106.7 the Fan]

Meanwhile, the Giants will replace Cofield with younger, cheaper players. You know, like a well-run organization would do.
