The Boozy Upside of Jayson Werth’s Season-Long Slump
By Jamie Mottram | July 20, 2011
$2.12 beers! That’s $2.12 PBR Tallboys, Buds and High Lifes at Duffy’s Irish Pub, to be specific, and it’s a price subject to fluctuate in line with Jayson Werth’s depressing batting average.
A shitty $2 beer doesn’t sound like much of a deal to me, but I’m 33 with kids (meaning I only drink a beer or two at a time most times) and living in a town (Wilmington, NC) where even craft beer only runs $3 or $4 a pop. But this place is in D.C., you know. They get away with charging like $5 a Bud up there.
The kicker is that it’s not all about negative vibes at Duffy’s. Each Jayson Werth basehit yields barflies a free shot of Irish whiskey. But that’s only on Sundays, and only for those wearing Nats gear.
Meaning, it’s for no one.
Update: Wouldn’t you know it, Werth just hit his first HR in over a month. He added a double too.

Jamie,
Excellent Nationals Blog. Its amazing how quick Werth has responded to Duffy’s pormotion by driving the price of PBRs up 7 cents. Here is a visual for Werth’s production against the Nationals next three opponents: http://experiencesap.wordpress.com/2011/07/28/whiskey-for-werth/
