    Redskins-Buccaneers Winners & Losers

    By Jamie Mottram | December 12, 2010

Handing out labels following Skins games. Today, a 17-16 loss to the Bucs.

    WINNERS

Ryan Torain — He topped 100 yards for the third time in just five full games, this time in the first quarter on his way to 172 yards on 24 carries, most of them in the first half.

Santana Moss — Seven catches, 82 yards, one TD. Passed Ricky Sanders for fifth on the team’s all-time list in receptions and receiving yards.

Logan Paulsen – First career TD! Killer ponytail, man!

London Fletcher – All over the place as usual with 11 tackles, two passes defensed and a fumble recovery on the goal line.

Phillip Daniels — Picked up a big sack after a rough week.

The fans — Anyone who showed up for this one is a true supporter. They made some noise too.

    LOSERS

Graham Gano — It brings me no joy to say: Pack shit, get out. If he’d only made one of the two short FGs he missed in the first half, that XP at the end wouldn’t have mattered.

Chris Wilson — Botched the opening kickoff of the second half.

Rocky McIntosh – Was burnt so badly on KW2’s game-winning TD.

Danny Smith — Let’s count the special teams gaffes: 1. Gano’s first missed FG. 2. Gano’s second missed FG. 3. Wilson’s fumbled kickoff. 4. The holding on Brandon Banks’ long kick return. 5. The botched snap/hold on the extra point. Also, fire Danny Smith.

Kyle Shanahan — Questionable play calling all day long. In the three right-off-the-bat first-half red zone possessions they only threw it into the end zone once. Also abandoned the run in the second half and called a fade for Roydell Williams with the game on the line.

Mike Shanahan — Micro: Bungled the clock at the end of the first half, burning his final timeout on 3rd-and-goal with 20 seconds left. They were then called for a delay of game before settling for a FG. Macro: His win-now approach has resulted in a 5-8 team.

    MEDIUM

Donovan McNabb — His numbers ended up looking good, but he didn’t look good getting them, missing throws and narrowly avoiding INTs.

DeAngelo Hall — Forced and recovered a fumble, but also dropped an INT and got burnt for 64 yards.

Anthony Bryant – Got some time at NT. No idea if he played well.

    Brian OrakpoHolding happens.

Update: I forgot to mention the fifth down thing. There you go.

      Medium – Joe Gibbs
Had to sit in the owers box with Snyder but looked like he got some free nachos.

I hope they didn’t even let Gano on the bus back to Ashburn

Kickers are a fickle thing. But Gano has probably got to go.

Major loser has got to be Kyle Shanahan for completely abandoning the run in the second half.

      Ugh. Just ugh.

This: “called a fade for Roydell Williams with the game on the line.” Baffling.

Here’s what I will never understand. How does Snyder sit through a season of games like this of systematic boneheaded gaffes and then at the end of the season convince himself “ok, all we need is [free agent player X/coach Y] to win the Super Bowl.” It’s lunacy.

As much as Gano deserves to go, who are we going to pick up that will be a significant improvement?

if anyone thinks that Jeff Reed isn’t the Skins’ “new” kicker this week, they are sadly mistaken.

I’m sure Kiley Shanahan is good at Madden ‘11 and all, but he’s got to realize what personnel he’s working with. There’s no Andre Johnson on the Redskins, asshole. Run the fucking ball.

If the Skins loss wasn’t bad enough, I went to the Terps game where I think they missed their last 5 FTs to lose to BC. At least the Caps play tonight. What? It’s 5-0 Rangers?? FML!

      A) This really is another “FML” DC sports weekend. I think they should change 106.7 The Fan’s lame name to WFML – perfect for a DC sports talker.

      B) Here’s all you need to see when it comes to Santana Moss being in the same sentence as Ricky Sanders… http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SandRi00/super-bowl/

Now 7-0 Rangers. Seriously, FML. Do we ever have good sports weekends? I think a great weekend is when 2 teams win. I feel like Cleveland.

1)jeff reed is on the 49ers and will probably bekicking in the playoffs, so bring on mike vanderjagt. but knowing snyder he will trade for janakowski and give him $65 million
      2) this team is the same exact team as what we saw the last 5 years with Zorn and Gibbs. excpet now we have a old ass QB and a rat faced coach and his son on the sidelines
      3) i’m pretty sure kyle shanahan sucks at madden too
      4) it’s sad to think that Rock Cartwright and Jason Campbell are having better years and success in Oakland….
      5) we suck as fans when they hired Allen and then Shanahan thinking things were going to change. nothing has changed except that I am year older and now have 2 kids that will be forced to deal with this bullshit.

LOSERS: Fans of a 75 year+/- Redskins tradition. Santa Claus always appears at halftime of the last home game before Christmas — but not this year. Why was there no “holiday” show this year? Halftime Dec. 12, 2010 was announcing punt pass and kick winners. Nice for the kids, who waved to the crowd, but not a Redskins tradition! Dan Snyder is a p.o.s.

      To WhyNoSantaAtFedExField2010,
Santa was there. During a T.O. the cheerleaders came out and danced to a song about Santa and in one of the end zones….there was ol Saint Nick himself. He also was walking around the sidelines for awhile. Probably was that prominent however b/c of all of the rain.

Fox is a loser too. Their broadcast team acting confused over a phantom 5th down and ignoring the officials was almost as stupid as the officals ignoring the Orakpo mugging on the deciding touchdown.

Winner: Myself for going to the NJ Nets / LA Lakers game instead of watching this debacle on TV.

Loser: Myself for continuing to care if the Skins win or lose.

The Redskins essentially ignored their only representative to the Punt, Pass, and Kick National Finals that were held at the Georgia Dome before the Falcons-Packers playoff game on 1/15/11. Repeated attempts to get them to even publicly acknowledge that they had a 14-15 boys finalist who gave the Redskins recognition at the finals by wearing their jersey were ignored. Their gifts to their finalist were very modest compared to what most other teams provided. Perhaps the Redskins are satisfied with their existing P,P&K capabilities and feel no need to provide recognition or to encourage development of young people with talents in those areas.
