Is This the Most 1977 Redskins Photo?

I’m thieving Jon Bois’ shtick with that headline, but I had to share this SI Vault photo of George Allen addressing the Redskins locker room in 1977. Washington just missed the playoffs that year, losing to eventual Super Bowl champion Dallas twice.

out of all the awesomeness here (arm pads, three bearded players, George Allen’s pants) Ithink best of all is the carpet.

Not just a plaid carpet, no. You can see the logo. holy hell yes.
Also, the return of the yellow pants 1) should be the #1 storyline of the season in that WaPo countdown, and 2) is literally the only thing about this upcoming season that I’m even remotely excited about.
The rest of the direction of the team disgusts me, but I swear the first thing I did when I started a season (or single game) with the Skins in Madden was change the pant color to yellow. That the one most meaningless part of my computerized fantasy that the Redskins were any good is the one part to come true is but small consolation, but it is consolation nonetheless.
