Sharing Gary Clark’s ‘Posse’ Photo Album
By Jamie Mottram | May 26, 2010
You’ll recall Redskins legend Neal Olkewicz’ Facebook album from a couple of weeks ago. Well, I’m close personal Facebook friends with Gary Clark too, and he’s also given consent to share his pics. So here we go, photos and captions from 84’s Facebook album, “THE POSSE… SIMPLY THE BEST”:

“Great Then… Great Now… Great Tomorrow… Simply The Best Ever… Not Arguably The Best… The Best”

“Preparing for War”

“The Teacher – My Idol” (Ed. note: Mine too!)

“Double Trouble”

“TD NFC Championship Game”

“For Love of the Game”

“JMU – Thrill of Competition”

In other news… how the mighty Redskins have fallen. If I knew then, those were the most glorious of glory days, I would have spent less time playing in the dirt with transformers and GI Joes, put down the Kool-Aid and Flav-R-Ice, worried less about which Underoos I was wearing, and paid more attention.

Just a comment on how much of a class act Gary Clark is. I told a relative that I wanted to give our newborn baby boy Liam (now 1 year old) autographed sports paraphanalia while he is too young to remember it. When he gets older he will have some pretty cool stuff to show off. I got Liam an Art Monk autographed football for his first Christmas. Anyway, said relative knows Gary Clark through his profession, and Gary Clark sent Liam an autographed copy of the first picture posted (The Posse). We keep it framed on the wall in his room. Pretty awesome Gary Clark. Thank you and Hail!

Maybe three receivers as good ever lined up on a football field. Maybe. Once. You name it. I can’t.
Definitely never three better.
Those were the days. I may not have appreciated them as fully as I should have, but unlike way too many fans of today’s Skins, I got to see them. I got to see a team that went to four Super Bowls, and was in the hunt for every single one they didn’t make.
One thing I like to remind myself of, frequently. I remember watching the Cowboys win their second Super Bowl over the Broncos. There was no end in sight. If you had told me, that night, that the Redskins would go to FOUR Supes and win THREE before the Cowboys went back, I would have left the room and dialed 911.
I saw it happen. Shoot, toss in ‘72. I got to see all five. (Now ‘72. THAT was a season.)
Which I guess makes me pretty damn lucky.
