I love Gary, but I have no problem with him not getting much HOF consideration. Monk being in is kind of like Gary being in anyway; Charlie Brown, Ricky Sanders, The Posse and the Fun Bunch too.

And I have no problem with Irvin being in either; the guy was a great player and the leader of a three-time Super Bowl champ.

Another name I saw someone throw out on Twitter is Larry Brown, who was before my time and whose stats don’t amount to much. He was a four-time Pro Bowler/two-time All-Pro though, and his second-most similar player is Portis:

Also worth noting: Irvin had the pleasure of playing almost all those seasons (I think except for his first) with the same HOF QB.

Clark won’t be considered for the HOF for the same reason the ‘91 Skins team aren’t considered won of the top 5 Super Bowl teams ever: not flashy enough.

Clark was very workmen like, and just got the job done. Could take the slant or post right to the house. Maybe if he wouldve danced like a bag of douche after catching a pass due to pushing the CB away like a jerk, then maybe he’d get a vote or two. For those of you who couldn’t figure it out I’m talking about Michel Irvin. I never thought I could hate Dallas more but then he got into the HOF before Monk and then I cranked the hatred for the star up to 11.

For Clark, it’s Mark Clayton. For Irvin, Randy Moss. Pretty big gap there.

Growing up I kind of assumed Clark would be a HOFer, because he was so damn good from ‘85-91, but then he just sort of fizzled out.
