Gilbert’s ‘Greatness Was Overwhelming’
By Jamie Mottram | December 19, 2009
After tying an NBA record by losing six straight by four points or less, a win at Golden State was just what the Wizards needed. And maybe more than that, a 45 and 13 effort against his former team was just what Gilbert Arenas needed:
Gilbert Arenas had an unbelievable performance,” Warriors’ coach Don Nelson said. “It sounds strange but we blitzed our defense at every turn but his greatness was overwhelming.”
It was his highest scoring total in nearly three years, since before the knee trouble, and he wasn’t the only one out there. Caron Butler found his form with 28 and 10 and Brendan Haywood put up another double-double.
Of course, Golden State isn’t good. But neither are the Wiz, so they’ll take it. Next up: Phoenix. A win there would be something. Killer mode: activated.
Bonus: An amusing pic of Antawn Jamison from last night’s action …
