Yeehaw! Danny And Vinny Gon Get Themselves a Purty White Quarterback

Jason Campbell isn’t going to be the Redskins quarterback next season. This is something we all need to start coming to terms with. Yes, even you idiots in the anti-JC camp. Because you know who we’re going to be stuck with in 2010? A rookie quarterback behind the same shitty offensive line we have right now:

Owner Daniel Snyder and Vinny Cerrato, Washington’s executive vice president of football operations, recently attended a University of Texas game to scout quarterback Colt McCoy, according to sources within the organization. Cerrato also made a trip to conduct an in-person evaluation of Notre Dame junior quarterback Jimmy Clausen, who this week declared for the draft.

The belief among some at Redskins Park is that Snyder and Cerrato plan to use the team’s first draft pick this year in their quest to find the Redskins’ next franchise quarterback, which could signal the end of Jason Campbell’s tenure with the team. He will be a restricted free agent at the end of the season, which means the Redskins could match any offers he received.

Back to you fuckheads who don’t think Jason Campbell is a quality QB — ask yourself this, honestly: Would you rather have JC as the QB next season (and beyond) along with a new stud, first round offensive lineman OR would you rather have a rookie QB from a weak QB draft pool? In fact, the former part of the question could probably be revised: Would you rather have JC as QB along with two stud early round lineman after the Skins trade down to acquire more picks. Because they could do that. They won’t, but they could.

Essentially what Snyder is doing by using a top 5 pick on McCoy or Clausen is banking the team’s entire future on one of them. If we at least bulk the line through the draft, we have the foundation for a successful offense. Even if it isn’t led by Campbell. Right now, we’d be throwing a rookie QB into a shitstorm of pain and punishment. Like Matt Stafford this season, only McCoy and Clausen combined don’t have as much potential as Stafford.

And holy fucking shit, after all of the evidence we have seen ON THE FIELD over the past five seasons, why are we still being forced to lobby for this team to draft offensive lineman? How do they NOT understand this? Why the fuck is Vinny Cerrato still running this team? And when did Subway’s sandwich artists become the equivalent of third graders who draw stick figures? THE TOPPING GO ON TOP OF THE MEAT, LADY, THAT’S WHY THEY’RE CALLED TOPPINGS.

Seriously, though, this has been a really, really enjoyable season.

  1. Russel Okung. Please. Just please. Just this once take amazingly good lineman.

please vinny and danny. just once. you can take a QB later. but please take the starting LT for the next decade now. PLEASE!!!

(look at the dolphins. they took a lineman before filling their need for a starting QB….now jake long is pro bowl caliber and the team doesnt regret not taking matt ryan at all and are a good team)
(look at the browns. with the 3rd overall pick, they took joe thomas. arguably the best LT in the NFL right now. while theyre not a great team right now, they can actually put a QB behind a line and they wont get killed)
(and finally look at the texans. no oline. took david carr #1 overall. david carr never had a chance, being sacked a ridiculously large amount of times.)

You guys are so right. We need to build a NFL-caliber o-line before we can expect to have a young QB succeed.

Ergo…..RUSSELL OKUNG PLEASE!!!! Dont take a QB in a draft where every QB has a question mark!!! Take the solid LT prospect, build an oline, give any QB/RB a better chance. Back to our redskins roots! winning with a great o line, letting it be a STRENGTH rather than a weakness

PLEASE DANNY/VINNY!!! LET THIS YEAR BE WORTH SOMETHING!!! Russell okung maybe?

  2. I’ll repeat my plan -
    1) Fire Vinny & Zorn
    2) Hire a real GM & Coach
    3) Resign JC
    4) Cut Portis, Samuels, Sellers, Daniels, Wynn, ARE and Betts. Mainly to clean out terrible contracts and old/injured guys
    5) Keep Rock, Ganther, Mason at RB. Looks for a speed RB to add.
    6) Draft OL in 1st and 3rd at a minimum.
    7) Trade Cooley for 2nd or 3rd round pick. Draft OL or DB. I beleive that Davis can play and Cooleys value is very high right now.

  3. Also, we can get JC for another year for $3.5M instead of committing something stupid like $30M for Clausen or McCoy.

The next question is when Vinny drafts Clausen, does he trade up other picks to take Tate. Or if he takes McCoy, does he trade up other picks to take Shipley.

  4. Whether or not he signs in DC, what do you think Jason Campbell’s contract will be like next year? His numbers fare OK vs. Rivers and Eli who both just got rediculous contracts. That said, he hasn’t had the overall success those two have had and he isn’t a marque brand in the NFL.

I could see anything between 30M and 75M your takes?

  5. As much as JC is an unexciting, middle of the road QB, it is foolish to suggest anything other than drafting offensive linemen is the correct course for the Redskins.

The Skins are in a period of really big transition. Having Campbells poise and leadership would be a wise investment for the next season.

Jimmy Clausen and McCoy arent coming in here next year and putting up middle of the pack numbers and they certainly wont be putting up middle of the pack numbers for $3 mil a season.

Campbell deserves our and the Redskins respect for taking the physical beating hes taken this season. Im glad hes putting up better numbers and giving the management something to think about.

Only question is, where has this offense been all season?

  6. The thing that concerns me most is why the fuck is Vinny involved in scouting for next year? He’s not getting fired? HE”S NOT GETTING FIRED?!?!?

And shouldn’t whomever the next coach is have a say in his QB?

I don’t want to live in a world in which Jimmy Clausen is the Redskins QB. I really don’t.

  7. Plain and simple folks:

Jason Campbell/Russel Okung >>>>>>>>> McCoy, Clausen, Locker, Bradford/Levi Jones

    Just Saying.

And I’ll say this here also:
If the Skins draft a QB at #5 or whatever in the 1st we’ll be having the same debate in 2013 about that QB that we’re currently having about Campbell and that we had about Ramsey.

Oh and suck it Vinny…..you should be fired long before Zorn or Campbell.

  8. OK…I’m not thrilled with JC coming back either but there are bigger fires to put out first. Believe it or not, I wouldn’t fire Zorn either. We need a punch-you-in-the-face offensive line. That’s it. That simple. There’s a good team in here somewhere. I’ve seen it.
