Skins Replace Kicker Who Couldn’t Kick
By Jamie Mottram | December 8, 2009
Goodbye, Shaun Suisham, whose greatest accomplishment was pure fiction:
Hello, Graham Gano, who was college football’s finest kicker last season and was last seen with the UFL’s Las Vegas Locomotives. Hopefully he can make 23-yarders, reach the end zone on kickoffs and not make me look like an ass for sticking up for him and making t-shirts bearing his name.
Redskins Insider has the good news.
Update: I was playing nice before, but this Suisham quote is absurd:
“Im 18 of 21, the most accurate kicker of the history of the franchise with over 100 attempts… that is the way the business goes”
Dude, two of those misses were from less than 40 in the fourth quarter of games your team would’ve won had you made the kicks. And your leg is so weak they chose to go for a Hail Mary from the 36 rather than attempt a 53-yarder. You’re second-worst in the league on kickoffs. Pack shit, get out.

Let me remind you that Graham Gano was missing field goals all over the place during the preseason for the Ravens.
Good luck, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable in Gano.

That’s good intel. I’ll make sure not to fall in love with him … yet.

Hell it’s about time they made the move. Hope Suisham goes back to the Cowboys

I’m sure Gano isn’t the answer but it feels nice to see some heads roll.

My brother always calls Suisham the poor man’s Vanderjagt — remember when Vandy would have those ridiculously accurate seasons, but the only kicks he’d miss would be against the Pats or in playoff games? When the Colts cut him, he was the most accurate kicker in NFL history.
Suisham’s a fine kicker and deserves a job in the league, but he is the opposite of clutch.
