Clinton Portis Is Done With the Redskins (At Least This Year)
By Jamie Mottram | December 8, 2009
My favorite Redskin (and the person we’ve blogged about the most) is now on injured reserve due to lingering effects from the concussion he suffered a month ago. He won’t play for the rest of the season, and maybe not ever again (though his agent remains optimistic).
Anyone paying attention knows that Portis could get cut this offseason. He’s 28, and there are a lot of miles on those tires. But if this is it, it’s sudden. We may not see him in Burgundy & Gold again, and that’s a lot to process.
Some of you may be saying good riddance, but he was crucial to both of Washington’s playoff appearances this decade, and he delighted the shit out of me off the field. He was a great Redskin, and I hate to see him go, when it comes to that. The time draws near.

I love CP but running backs are replaceable.
Let’s hope for his sake that his pockets truly are straight because hes about to get effed contract wise.

Was that just announced? Because one of the announcers mentioned that CP was on IR during the Saints game. Did anyone else hear it?

i heard that too, but i think he was still meeting with doctors at the time. the team definitely hadn’t announced it until today.
i love cp, but he just didn’t seem to have it this year. maybe he needs the time off. hopefully we can have him in a chester taylor style role next year if we draft an rb high.

I thought his comments sounded as though he was thinking about retiring.
