Exclusive: Copy of Jon Gruden’s MNF Analysis Cheet Sheet
By Chris Mottram | December 1, 2009
Sure, Jon Gruden has finished off the job started by Tony Kornhesier of making Monday Night Fooball completely insufferable, but really, it’s not his fault. He’s just going by the chart. Like when Joe Gibbs used to go for two in the third quarter.
According to a totally real source that we definitely made up, this is the cheat sheet Gruden keeps in front of him while calling games. Note: Not included is any reference to a “sluggo” route or inane nicknames he makes up on the spot, as he is at liberty to blurt those out at any given time. Click image to see larger.

I didn’t think it could get worse than Kornheiser, but at least he didn’t talk so much.

Go ahead and kill me now, but I think Gruden is better than TK. I mean, there was NOTHING that TK added. It was like a 5-year old was talking. Tirico had play both play-by-play and then color man duties for TK. Gruden at least explains some gaps and play names. TK would start talking, realize he’s in over his head, and like your flow chart, everything would end at “What do you think Jaws?”
The main reason I like Gruden in the booth is it guarantees he can’t take the Skins coaching job.
How would you rate these 3? I think in order from worse to worst…mine are:
Gruden
TK

Gruden is absolutely horrible. It’s hard to listen to him for more than five minutes.

I can’t stand Gruden either but I’m glad he signed on for another couple years because that means he won’t be the Redskins head coach.
