Redskins-Eagles II Winners & Losers
By Jamie Mottram | November 29, 2009
Abbreviated, unresearched edition here as I watched the game in multiple locations with babies, grandparents, friends from home, etc.

WINNERS
Rocky McIntosh – His hit on a goal line stand that was followed by him crawling and pounding the ground was the highlight of my day. That, or the new Lost Dog on Columbia Pike.
Chris Wilson — Nice rush off the left side to force Donovan McNabb’s INT.
London Fletcher — Took DeSean Jackson out, had 10 tackles and a sack.
LOSERS
LaRon Landry — We all know he can’t tackle, which is ridiculous given his position and physique, but the armless knockout whiff on Jason Avant that cost the team 22 yards was especially egregious.
The secondary — They (I’m saying “they” because it seemed to be Fred Smoot’s fault once and someone else’s the other time) left DeSean Jackson wide open on two touchdowns. I’m not sure how that happens, especially after it happened once already during Redskins-Eagles I.
Andy Reid – We normally don’t label the opposition, but why would Philly, a nine-point favorite, start the game with an onside kick? And why would they, having finally found a rhythm, have Michael Vick take a snap?
MEDIUM
Jim Zorn – On the one hand, it’s to his credit that these depleted Skins are competing with playoff-caliber teams. On the other, he burned another timeout and was passive after the ref swallowed his whistle and Campbell lie motionless following a late-body slam on the final play of consequence.
Jason Campbell – I’d love to move him out of this category now and again, but he’s perpetually average. Three touchdowns, two picks, etc.

Major loser: the offensive line. Can we call the Heyer experiment a failure finally? Him and Williams need to be permanently banned from the area.

You’re going to have to be more specific when referring to “Williams.”

Edwin, though I guess throw Mike in there also.

I don’t mean to be a Ref complainer/blamer but where the fuck was a roughing the passer call on that 4th down seriously. Ronnie Fucking Milsap saw that call. Not saying it cost us the game but for shits sake JC was given a side suplex and last i checked WWE moves are not kosher in the NFL.
@JDP – Dude just appreciate the fact that 2 of the last 3 games we’ve scored in the 20’s for shits sake. Cut edwin some slack it was his first start ever.

This game showed me that it’s not Campbell’s fault our offense is sorry. If we put a respectable line in front of him I’m sure he’d come through. When you only have time to make one to two reads, any QB would suffer.
I know we are in the age were NFL players celebrate the smallest things but Laron landry mugging as one of the mottrom’s put it, makes me want to kick a box of kittens. How can a man with that frame fail in EPIC fashion so much?! Reed doughty is deaf for fuck sakes and he can make a tackle. WTF

@JDP
I’m not sure what you were watching, but Edwin played a very good game at RG. I guess you saw the false start penalties and assumed he played poorly, but he was often the only lineman getting push on run plays and did decent in pass pro as well. He should be given a chance to compete for the starting C job next year.

I like the fact the Skins are playing with alittle pride and certainly with some effort, finally.
I was disappointed Zorn didnt freak out after Campbell was thrown into the ground on the 4th down play. I understand thats the time of game to swallow the whistle, but that was a pretty easy call to make.

I agree. It was a loss but just like last week at least I felt we were close and I feel that the players are giving their all (most of them at least). I’m definitely more proud of this team than I was at the beginning of the season. Of course that makes me question some of the usual starters since we’re playing with backups at most positions right now.

Julz, are you looking in the general direction of guy wearing #26?

That would certainly be the first that comes to mind.
