Redskins-Cowboys Winners & Losers
By Jamie Mottram | November 22, 2009

WINNERS
Rock Cartwright — It seemed like curtains for the run game when Ladell went down early, but Rock ran well and did damage in the pass game too (career-high 140 yards from scrimmage). It was almost enough.
The defense — Shutting Dallas out for 55 minutes and giving up only seven points is quite a feat. A wasted feat, sure, but a feat nonetheless.
Burgundy-on-burgundy — They looked good out there today.

LOSERS
Shaun Suisham — The missed 50-yarder was to be expected (he is 3-9 career from 50-plus after all), but the hooked 39-yarder to end the first half was a backbreaker. That kick will haunt his otherwise good season.
Ladell Betts — You’ve got to feel for the guy, finally getting — and making something of — his chance, and he goes down with a torn MCL.
Chad Rinehart — Same for him and his broken fibula.
LaRon Landry – He actually played better. He was certainly around the ball more, and at least had a presence over the middle. Still, the mean mugging after every play is unbearable.
Brian Orakpo and Andre Carter — 0.0 sacks. Miss you, Haynesworth.
Carlos Rogers — In good health, and not on the field.
Danny Smith – I don’t know what an “illegal wedge” is, but his unit got one to pin the offense deep on their final drive.
Jim Zorn — Keeps wasting timeouts. Also attempted a field goal on third down from the 21 with 15 seconds left in the half rather than taking a shot, which is just depressing.
MEDIUM
Jason Campbell — Completed 65 percent of his throws, averaged 6.9 yards per attempt, failed to get a scoring pass … it was a very Campbell-ian performance, and, all things considered, a respectful one.
London Fletcher — Forced Marion Barber to cough up a red zone fumble, dropped an easy tipped INT.
Rocky McIntosh — Also dropped an INT, played well otherwise.
Malcolm Kelly, Devin Thomas and Fred Davis — If you combine their numbers (six catches, 93 yards), it’s a fine total for a second-year second-round receiver. This is progress. (Note: After his impressive 38-yard return, my hat’s officially in the ring for Devin Thomas, kick returner.)

“Jim Zorn — …Also attempted a field goal on third down from the 21 with 15 seconds left in the half rather than taking a shot at the end zone.”
Isn’t this why Sherman Lewis is supposed to be calling the plays? So is he not calling the plays? Or does he just call the plays except when he doesn’t?
Why do the Redskins’ brains turn off the moment they cross into field goal range. All the burnt timeouts, false starts, sacks, stalled drives happen right inside the 40 yard line.
Kill self.

It does seem like the more time they have to deliberate, the more inclined they are to fail. It’s a neat little trick.

Kicking the field goal on 3rd down with 15 seconds left was the single most infuriating moment of today’s game. You don’t even need to go for the end zone there – I feel like I’ve seen the Colts complete a pass across the middle and spike it in an 10 second span. Then again, the colts aren’t a JV team.

Most I can agree with, but those uniforms were terrible. I mean they look like a college team, which I guess makes sense cause they might be able to beat one, like Notre Dame perhaps.

If Laron Landry plays like that every time he can mean mug to his hearts content.
And don’t hate on Ol’ Rakpo he caused an INT.
BTW you know it is exciting when all my tweets during the game concerned Suisham.

I realize you guys have a Campbell bias but will you never see this guys inefficiency at scoring touchdowns as being loser-ish? Using stats, you always make a good point that he’s not terrible, he’s medium. But if you sort him by touchdowns, he’s bottom of the pack and not rising anytime soon. One touchdown, just one, would have made all the difference in the world in this game, but that’s clearly too much to ask of a medium quarterback.

Of the offensive units on the field yesterday, quarterback was the least loser-ish. Yet Campbell still played medium. I think that’s to his credit.

Can’t wait to draft a quarterback this year. Hope he’s better than medium at his best.

Is Snyderato masquerading as Shiv?

That’s me! Just love watching a QB that can’t score more than 1 TD per game on average over his career. He’s so medium it’s awesome! What will be the excuse next year if it’s not aging o-line(which should be addressed), lack of quality receivers, poor play selection, or lack of running game? It’s always something, never Campbell. I do hope we retain him, as our backup, but doubt that will happen. Hopefully the decision is made by our new GM. Meanwhile, I’ll be shocked if you ever put him in the loser column, where he belongs.
November 23rd, 2009 at 3:07 PM
I labeled him a loser last month, thus retroactively shocking you.

Well I’ll be damned. Apologies. Thought I went through all of them.
