Redskins Fan Booted From MNF Game, Banned From FedEx For Anti-Snyder Sign

Today’s guest writer is a man known simply as Fitz, a friend of the Brothers Mottram and all-around outstanding Redskins fan. You may recognize him as our “Snyder Sucks” t-shirt model. He has also made appearances in several D.C. Sports Bog posts. So yeah, he’s pretty much internet famous.

This is his account of being kicked out of FedEx last night. Based on what we’re seeing on Twitter today from people at the game last night, many, many Skins fans had a similar experience:

Last night I was at my first Skins Monday Night game. I went with a couple friends, but knew I needed to take an Anti-Snyder banner with me. Problem was I couldn’t come up with anything clever until just before I left for the game. My brother texted me the perfect idea for a sign to play off on the whole Sherman Lewis bingo thing. I whipped up a quick “Snyder…B-I-N-GO F Yourself” sign on a bed sheet so everybody could see it. I knew it would get me in trouble but didn’t expect to get thrown out of the stadium by a couple security guys.

In the third quarter, one of my friends and I took out the banner and were holding it up. Next thing I know, four security guys are coming up both sets of stairs and headed right for us. They take my banner and tell us we have to leave the stadium. On the way out a bunch of people in the section are taking pictures and chanting “Free Speech!”

Once we got to the concourse area they asked for my ID, which I quickly tried to pass off to a friend. One of the security guys snatched my wallet and wrote down my drivers license info in his little black book. I guess that means means I’m banned from the stadium or something. They then escorted my three friends and I all the way from the 400 level out to the front gate. I tried to talk to them about the whole situation but they weren’t having it — too busy being serious security guys, I guess.

So, long story short, I got my point across, they took my banner, I probably got banned for life and I got to leave the game early. Good thing too, it was an awful game.

Update: Hello, Deadspin readers. If you’re looking for the “Snyder Sucks” girl, she’s over here now.

  1. I was in this guy’s section a couple rows behind him. Funny sign and I was appalled that he got tossed, so I took some photos of it happening on my iPhone.

Posted on TwitPic, and apologies for the awful quality: http://twitpic.com/n5n3f

  2. The last thing Snyder needs to be worried about is kicking anti-Snyder fans out of the stadium.

Y’know the irony of it all?

If Fitz is a STH and they ban him, I’d bet he’ll still get calls from the Redskins TO asking him to renew his season tickets……

  3. I wonder whether since the only thing management has given instructions for security to toss people for is anti-management stuff (as opposed to lets say the other teams jersey, or other “pro” redskins stuff sold in the lot showing calvin pissing on the cowboys etc…) that folks may be able to sue Snyder? They paid for tickets and I think an argument could be made that the Redskins evidently have no problem with content that’s not aimed at management, whether or not more people could find it objectionable or it is actually causing more of a disturbance. Seeing as Snyder sues fans, maybe fans should start to reciprocate.

  4. Maybe for the next game, you should do anti-Snyder signs in rebus form. That way, it’ll take Snyder and Cerrato a couple of extra minutes to “sove the puzzle” and send out the brown shirts.

  5. What’s the deal with demanding your driver’s license. The guys aren’t real cops, you’ve broken no laws, and you weren’t even under any suspicion for breaking law or committing a crime. Next time, I would peacefully leave but tell them exactly where to shove it if they try to demand your ID. That’s ridiculous.

  6. im sorry to hear the situation is gettin that bad in for the fans of the skins. we feel your pain alittle in chicago. we cant take bags into the game including the ones that they gave out to fans at game 2 this season…. why the bag then?
the excuse here is a little better than someone might get a paper cut. but with the problems the team is having you think they would be more focused on that then a few signs in the crowd
