Did Dan Snyder Bench Jason Campbell?

    By Jamie Mottram | October 19, 2009

jason-campbell-benched.jpgTony Kornheiser was in the owner’s box yesterday and had this to say on his show:

“At the end of the first half, Snyder was not where he normally sits for the entire two-minute drill. And I don’t know where he was, because he was in front of me.”

Maybe that explains Jason Campbell’s halftime benching, because I don’t think Jim Zorn did it, not after sticking with him two weeks ago despite a scoreless, four-turnover half. Wouldn’t that have been the time to pull Campbell vs. yesterday, when his only turnover came on a Hail Mary?

What seems most likely is that Snyder had seen enough and left the box to demand that Zorn pull Campbell. That or, as Chris said to me over Google Chat, “Maybe Snyder just had to take a shit?”

    Inquiring minds, people.

For what it’s worth, La Canfora asked this at the press conference (actually “Did Vinny or Dan or anyone in the higher level of the organization suggest who they think the quarterback should be?”), and Zorn’s response was a convincing-sounding “Absolutely not.” It’s at about the 10:00 mark of the presser if you feel like watching.

I totally buy this. I’ve also been very suspicious that Darth Snyder was responsible for Haynesworth coming out to play after being carted off during the Detroit game. He was carted off, came limping back on, and then was dead weight the rest of the game. Fuck this fucking team.

For what it’s worth, Zorn wouldn’t tell Jason La Canfora if Snyder had told him to bench JC.

Good to know, Terl, though I wouldn’t expect Zorn to say anything different.

Also, I love that La Canfora is/was back at Redskins Park.

When I read that on the sports bog I immediately thought of Any Given Sunday.

another “strong suggestion” that zorn “complied” with. I actually give him a lot of credit for NOT resigning - because thats what vinny and the danny want.

Nah. He didn’t. The bigger question to me is, does Snyder really scowl at players after a loss, as LaVar Arrington reported stated he does? (BTW, this is a great site. That’s a compliment from riggosrag.com)
