Please tell me- What did you or the “DMV” care about if it wasn’t hockey?
The Nats are the laughing stock of MLB. The Os haven’t had a winning season in 10 years. The Skins are a franchise in complete disarray with and napoleon owner and Vinny Cerrato as GM. The wiz won 19 games this year. And the Terps season has been over for 2 months.
The Caps are the only real team in this town. Glad you could tear yourself apart from all the other glorious franchises to finally ‘care about hockey.’

The headline was a bit tongue-in-cheek. But, yeah, I/we care more about baseball, football and basketball than hockey. That’s just how it is. That’s how we were raised.*
Doesn’t mean we don’t root for/follow the Caps, it’s just, generally speaking, not with the same passion that we follow the Skins, Nats, O’s, Wiz and Terps.
* Chris may actually care more about the Caps than Wiz, so I don’t mean to speak for him.

I hear you, I’m just not sure I will ever understand Nats or Os coverage taking any precedence over what the Caps are doing right now. And I don’t think I’m really alone (Caps have been on the front cover of the WaPo sports page for the entire playoffs)
The Os and Nats have no shot to be anything but the worst teams in their respective divisions. It’s an embarrassment, we have a GM who invited fans from Philly to come down to our ballpark on opening day! Not saying you shouldn’t care about a team if they’re bad but when you have a true winner playing at the same time (in the playoffs no less), it seems like a no brainer as to which one should garner your attention.
That being said I was raised to care about the Skins/Terps/Caps more than anything else, so I am decidedly bias.
Hey maybe 5 more years of Stanley Cup runs by the Caps and 100 loss seasons by the Nats will start to change your allegiances…

“I hear you, I’m just not sure I will ever understand Nats or Os coverage taking any precedence over what the Caps are doing right now. And I don’t think I’m really alone (Caps have been on the front cover of the WaPo sports page for the entire playoffs)”
WaPo is a news publication. Of course they’d feature a team currently in the playoffs over May baseball. That would be the case even if the Nats or O’s were in first place. We are not a news source. We let our biases show. And we’re biased towards baseball, even if our teams suck.
Having said that, and as Jamie noted, we have been following the Caps, even if they aren’t all over Mr. Irrelevant.
