Video: Ovechkin and Crosby Get Into It

    By Jamie Mottram | February 23, 2009

The talk of today’s DMV is the back-and-forth between Ovie and the Kid during and after Washington’s nationally televised 5-2 win over Pittsburgh, so let’s have a look at their on-ice altercation, shall we:

That was rather lightweight, but these are the two biggest stars in hockey and the sentiment remains: Crosby seems like a bitch. Or, as Ovechkin put it, “What, I can’t play hard against him? What is he going to do, cry?”

A nationally televised punking. Is there even a question Ovechkin is the best player in the NHL?

Terps77: I think the question is still a very valid one. I understand that “punking” may be a way to rate the best player in the NHL for some people, but most people refer to stats. Crosby is a playmaker by definition, but he changed his game to play up to Ovechkin. He became a goal scorer in the second round of the ‘09 playoffs. He nearly matched Ovechkin in points, and tied for goals (8). The question needs asked again and again, because it’s good for the league, and its good for hockey. By the way, as of 5/14, Crosby is still contending, and Ovi is hitting the back nine. Maybe at the U of M Golf Course even.
