Nick Young: All-Star or HOFer? Discuss.
By Jamie Mottram | January 15, 2009
Something strange is happening during the Wizards’ latest losing streak (six games and streaking!): Nick Young is fulfilling his potential as an NBA scorer. To whit, over his first 109 games as a Wizard, his career-best was 27 points. Over his past four games, he’s topped that three times, including 33 last night against the Knicks.
Not only is he filling it up, but he’s shooting 72%(!) along the way. And not only is he converting at an incredible rate, but he’s filling up the highlight reel as well. Case in point, “the crazy dribbles” at the 30-second mark:
Michael Lee is all about it over at Wizards Insider (emphasis added):
“Young dribbled up the court, slung the ball right to left, attempting a crossover to get around [Gerald] Wallace. The ball then it hit Young’s left knee and dropped between his legs. Wallace lunged forward, and Young pitty-patted the ball a few times, then hit the spin button to go right. Wallace stumbled to the ground while Young turned and darted toward the rim. Once Young drew Emeka Okafor and Juwan Howard, he zipped a left-handed pass to Javale McGee for a dunk.”
Beautiful stuff, but the team’s still unfathomably shitty, hence the new tag.

Dear Eddie Taps,
Move Caron back to the 3 where he belongs, insert Young into the starting lineup, and bring Dom in off the bench as your sixth man. That is all.

I agree Maj about the lineup change. Taser is not a starter in this league. Well, maybe for this crappy team. Sick Young dribbling exhibition and his spin move pass was nice. Need a Plan B tag: Tanking for Greg Monroe?

1. I don’t think the Wizards need a post player as much as they need a point guard. Even with Arenas coming back, he’s better suited to be a shooter.
2. Considering Arenas’ injury, I thought at the outset of the year that Nick Young would be the most important part of any playoff run the Wizards would have. http://www.stetsports.com/2008/07/24/why-nick-young-is-the-key-to-the-washington-wizards-playoff-hopes/
3. Considering the first 38 games, that post was an epic fail.

I think it’s time to revive The City.
