Wiz Notes While Waiting for Blake Griffin
By Jamie Mottram | January 12, 2009
The Wizards lost at home to Charlotte, but Vale makes the play of the day:
It’s their fourth in a row, and Gil isn’t coming back soon. It’s just as well, as daydreaming about Blake Griffin is fun, and he’s on ESPN tonight against Texas. He’ll probably go for 25 and 15 and look beautiful doing it.
Even if we don’t get him, we still have Wizznutzz, which writes about the endless cycle of destruction that is being a Wiz fan, and Steinz, who shares DeShawn’s ’80s fashion. Both are highly recommended. The team is not.
Update: The Wiz lose to Milwaukee and Griffin goes for 20 and 10 in a win. The latter needs to help the former.

I’d be happy to finish respectably and get 7′3″ Hasheem Thabeet. We already have Jamison and McGee; we need a Mutumbo-like beast.

Jamison turns 33 in June. McGee can play center, as can Haywood. Give me Griffin or give me, well, Thabeet I guess.

The last thing we need is another center on the roster. Give me a physical 4 or Jennings.

How is Griffin not “a physical 4″?
January 13th, 2009 at 10:32 AM
He is. That’s who I want.

Oooh, I feel you now. Apologies.
Funniest thing is Bob Knight on this morning’s SportsCenter saying something to the effect of, “IF Griffin stays he COULD be one of the best players in the country.”
Uh, he’s not staying and he’s already everybody’s All-American.

Maybe he was thinking of Blake’s brother.
Fuck it, give me DeJuan Blair

Maybe someday he could be as good as Damon Bailey. Knight is good on the games, but that bit of understatement was quite humorous.

I am on the record for Griffin or Greg Monroe. David Stern will make sure the Thunder get the local OKC boy, Griffin. Count on it.

Yes, because the NBA’s success or lack thereof is dependent upon the Oklahoma City franchise.
