This Should Help the Protection Problems
By Chris Mottram | December 8, 2008
This is just what an offensive line that allowed approximately 18 sacks last night needed:
Tackle Chris Samuels has a 50-percent tear of his triceps and will undergo season-ending surgery, Coach Jim Zorn said.
Stephon Heyer will step in at left tackle, Zorn said, and, Jason Fabini would replace Jansen at right tackle, if need be.
So, just to clarify: A lineman who lost his right tackle position to a 32-year-old has-been will now be in charge of protecting Campbell’s blind side. And we’re potentially looking at a Heyer-Kendall-Rabach-Thomas-Fabini line, with Geisinger as the only remaining able body if someone else goes down. That should work out well.

If Geisinger keeps playing, Plackemeier’s “Muffin Top” moniker is in serious jeopardy.

Maybe the Skins should hold open tryouts…our line cant get any worse. The women that eat at the Chipotle near my office could def work…they’re all 3 bills. Maybe we could even bring in some of the DC Divas.

Could you please write about how JMU beat Villanova this past weekend or something? I can’t take any more bad news about the Skins.

Don’t forget Chad Rinehart, he was a third rounder who Bugel said showed promise in training camp (although I think he is yet to be active for a game).
The offensive line needs a complete overhaul. Kendall is the only adequate starter. Samuels is not that good, but the Skins will keep him around due to his absolutely mystifying perennial Pro-Bowl honors. Rabach, Thomas and Janses, I love you but you’re too old. Give Rinehart and Heyer a chance, get some more youth from the draft, and maybe sign a free-agent OL. That means three new starters and possibly a fourth if Kendall can’t step his shit up.

I left Rinehart out on purpose, not considering a rookie who is yet to be active for any games an “able body.” Although he probably wouldn’t be any worse at this point than Geisinger.
