Terps Manage to Not Blow Their Season
By Jamie Mottram | November 22, 2008
Maryland basketball is at a point where success is simply measured by getting into the NCAA Tournament. Of course, last season was a failure as they won 18, went .500 in the ACC and were left out.
The key wasn’t a conference tournament loss to Boston College, no, it was early home losses to Ohio and American, the likes of which Maryland had rarely, if ever, seen. And last night was almost more of the same as Vermont was up five with under two minutes left before the Terps came back to win in overtime.
I didn’t see the game, so I won’t comment on who did what, but it is interesting that the Catamounts have now taken Mr. Irrelevant’s two favorite college hoops teams — Maryland and Mason — to overtime in the past week. The difference is that Mason was on the road. The other difference is that Mason is a mid-major. Neither bodes well for Gary Williams.
Regardless, a win is a win, unless it’s over No. 5-ranked Michigan State in the Old Spice Classic on Thanksgiving night. Then it’s time to tear down the goal post, drag it across Rt. 1 and watch that motherfucker burn.

1. The Terps were dominated inside by a 6′5″ forward.
2. The Terps have no inside presence to speak of.
3. Gunston is official a pirate loyalist.

Well, that 6′5″ forward is his conference’s reigning Player of the Year.
But, yeah, if Dupree and Burney are gonna be nonexistent, then MD’s in trouble, even if the ACC doesn’t have many stud big men.

That game was way too close. Maryland closed out strong in the OT, I dont think Vermont scored a bucket. Hopefully the OT performance sparked something in the team.
Adrian Bowie looked good.
