Tell Me How Blatche’s Ass Smell

    By Jamie Mottram | November 20, 2008

If one were to attempt to convey the Wizards’ wretched start through visual expressionism, one would be hard-pressed to top the effort of Nick Young:

Like Steinz said about a disheveled Eddie Jordan, that’s what 1-8 looks like, and it’s but one of four brilliant stills of TV photography at Truth About It (via Ball Don’t Lie). Flatulence aside, Andray Blatche, who really should leave that funk in the painted area, is probably the most troubled of the Wizards.

He’s been one of my favorites since getting drafted in the second round out of high school and suffering a gunshot wound, only to make it in the NBA and show across-the-board improvement his first three seasons. This one, however, has seen wholesale decline and he hasn’t scored in double-digits since opening night. Still, I hold out hope for Bulletproof, as he’s just 22 and the youngest Wizard other than JaVale McGee.

In other Wiz news, last night brought a tough loss at Atlanta, despite Epic Vale’s first start (5 and 5).  Caron and Antawn continue being Caron and Antawn, but it’s not enough for this sorry lot, sans Gilbert and Haywood. NY, however, continues to score despite himself (14.1 PPG), inching that much closer to a star-making turn in the Slam Dunk Contest.

When your season is on the brink, it’s the little things like that, and brief moments of levity like the one above, that bring some semblance of joy. Let’s just hope the Wizards keep at least providing that.
