We’ll Hardly Be Able to Recognize the Orioles Next Season

With the Nats showing off their fancy new uniforms for ‘09, the O’s weren’t to be outdone. At a rally today, the team will unveil its new digs. With this, comes good news and bad news. First, the good: They’re bringing back the gray road jerseys that read “Baltimore” across the front. They haven’t rocked those since the days of Brooks Robinson, back in ‘72. They’ll probably look something like this throwback, but less wool-ish.
Second, the bad news: They’ve totally overhauled the Orioles logo. Like, dude, you won’t even recognize this shit anymore. We’ve hidden the new logo after the jump because IT’S JUST THAT FREAKY, man — we didn’t wanna startle you by having it out in the open.
DUDE! The future is so different, it’s crazy! I won’t even know what team I’m rooting for anymore with this new bird. Look at it, with its ass raised a half-tic higher in the air, its talons curled under, that head slightly lowered to provide more aerodynamic, downforce sleekness. Who the fuck does this bird think he is? He doesn’t even have a yella-belly. Elitist fowl.

The sleeve patch is a total waste of the coolest flag in the Union. Wold love to see someone use it s a pennant ala the Maryland helmets before Fridge gave us those awful Terps things.

Reminiscent of when the Cardinals changed their logo, prompting Denny Green to crown our asses with this quip:
“The old bird kind of had a questionable look, ‘Do I want to eat that?’ This bird looks like he wants to eat it.”
Awesome having “Baltimore” back on the road unis though.
