TV Hand Man Is Snyder’s Fault Somehow
By Chris Mottram | October 21, 2008

No, friends, that’s not someone at home covering the TV screen with their celebration. That man’s hands are in the TV, man. This particular Hand Man obstruction came on Santana’s touchdown, during which my reaction went something like this: “Dude. DUDE. DUDE! WHAT THE FUCK MOVE YOUR FUCKING HANDS YOU PIECE OF SH…OH FUCK YES TOUCHDOWN SANTANA YOU’RE THE TITS HOW DID YOU SCORE ON THAT I THOUGHT YOU WERE RUNNING OUT OF BOUNDS!” [Sees replay from a different angle, witnesses Santana's stylish spin move.] “Holy shit, that was amazing. What was I mad about again?”
But alas, thanks to Steinz, I am reminded of why I was pissed. It was stupid Hand Man and his stupid hands, which obstructed the view at least four separate times during the Browns game. Some have suggested this may have been a CBS issue — maybe they weren’t familiar with the good angles at FedEx Field seeing as it’s usually FOX territory. But I’ve seen Hand Man on previous FOX broadcasts as well.
This seems like something that would be an easy fix: If the Hand Man sitting below the camera can touch the lens, you’re set up in a bad spot. But like everything else, it’s probably more complicated than that. Terl at the Skins Blog is on the case, trying to figure out who we can blame for this. Until he provides answers, I’m going to assume this is all Dan Snyder’s fault for jamming more seats into that stadium than it was intended to hold.

As a former collegiate fundraising beer salesman at FedEx Field back in ‘01-’03, I can tell you that the cameras in question are on the club level in different locations. When you come out of the club circle and into the stadium, they’re on the right or left sides on little concrete platforms before the stairs.
You can literally reach out and slap the camera guy on the back after purchasing your 18th beer of the game. Hence the problem.
Solution – just raise the damn things up.

I always wanted my revenge on that guy.

I had the same reaction Sunday. “What the fuck just happened? Who is this douchebag blocking the camera??? He should be fined!”
