Heyward-Bey Is a Man-Child
By Chris Mottram | October 18, 2008
The Terps are up 13-0 on Wake at the half, despite two turnovers, in a huge game — the winner will be atop the Atlantic Division standings. Darrius Heyward-Bey has been a massive part of Maryland’s success thus far, finally having a big game and doing what you’d expect from a man with his skills: catching eight balls for 94 yards and one touchdown, which came on a halfback pass from Da’Rel Scott.
But this catch, well, this is not what you’d expect Heyward-Bey, or any other human being, to do (money shot at 35-second mark):
While we’re here — and I know this has probably been said before — I’d like to state for the record that Doc Walker is the best color commentator in all of football, NCAA or otherwise.
UPDATE: And it’s official, Maryland’s a BIG winner over Wake, 26-0. This means the Terps are now the only team in the country to have defeated three ranked opponents this season. Bet you didn’t know that fun fact.

Maryland’s now 5-2 vs. top 25 teams the past two seasons and 6-7 against everyone else. Left on their schedule: two ranked teams (VT, UNC) and three unranked (NC St., FSU, BC). This doesn’t end well.

1. Edwin Baptiste wants a word with you about Heyward-Bey.
2. Brian Billick wants a word with you about Doc Walker.

I didn’t say it was better than what Edwin Baptiste did. I just said it’s a catch you don’t expect any receiver to make. I think that’s what I was trying to say, anyway.

Also, a Gus Johnson-Doc Walker booth would cause worlds to collide.

Hopefully, FSU and BC will work their way up to being ranked by the time Maryland plays them.

What a freaking bizarre season.
