Yeah, the NFC East Is the SEC of the NFL
By Jamie Mottram | September 25, 2008
Not only did the NFC East send three teams to the playoffs each of the past two seasons, but they very well may do it again this year with a fourth team — your Washington Redskins — in the top half of the league.
Through three weeks, the division’s combined record is 10-2 with the two losses coming against one another (Philly @ Dallas and Washington @ New York). So they’re 8-0 against everyone else, and those teams aren’t bad either, as they’ve gone 7-6 against the rest of the NFL.
Plus, you just don’t see plates like that (via Fan IQ) in other divisions.
/done stating the obvious
Update: Man, I was really stating the obvious. So much so that the headline here might as well be a direct quote from CBS Sports’ NFL power rankings. Apologies, but the sentiment remains … NFC EAST RULZ!!!111!

Does that make the AFC North the MEAC?

I think it’s more like the Big Ten: Overrated and disappointing.

What conference is most like the ACC…
I say the NFC North. Full of big name teams that ultimately go 8-8 every year.
Also, I just took a look at the conferences and why in the name of all that is holy did someone group Atlanta, Carolina, New Orleans and Tampa Bay into a conference.
That is literally 3 of the worst franchises in the history of the NFL and an expansion team.
I’m outraged!

Jeff: Would you prefer they go back to the system where Atlanta and Carolina where in the NFC West, Tampa Bay was in the NFC Central, and Arizona was in the NFC East? As a former middle school geography bee winner, that made me outraged!
And for those “3 of the worst franchises in the history of the NFL and an expansion team”, Since 1999, NFC South teams have won as many Super Bowls and NFC Championships as NFC East teams.
So don’t pick on the NFC South for not having history when they’ve been successful lately. Pick on the AFC or NFC West instead. They are the Sun Belt and Empire 8 of the NFL.

“And for those “3 of the worst franchises in the history of the NFL and an expansion team”, Since 1999, NFC South teams have won as many Super Bowls and NFC Championships as NFC East teams.”
The NFC South is, so far as I can tell, the only division in football without a winning franchise.
Tampa Bay 198-304-1
New Orleans 255-369-5
Atlanta Falcons 258-379-6
Carolina Panthers 99-112
Cumulative suck: 810-1164-12 Or… win% of .407
In the East, only the Eagles have a losing record.
Super Bowls and League Championships from the East: 23
Super Bowls and League Championships from the South: 1
The NFC South is not a worthy opponent of the NFC East and might be the worst division in NFL history. Except by might I mean definitely.

Shhh … don’t tell the Panthers fans down here that their franchise is the suck. They’ll go back to not caring about the team, otherwise known as “four weeks ago.”

I have a similar license plate it reads FDWHITE.

And then I said don’t pick on the NFC South for not having history when they’ve been successful lately. But you conveniently ignored that fact. So all of your arguments don’t matter. Especially because that division was only formed in 2002 and if you’re going by numbers since then, the stats are 1 Super Bowl win and 2 NFC Championships. The same as for the NFC East.

4 teams from a division can’t make the playoffs

I made one argument, here it is:
“The NFC South is not a worthy opponent of the NFC East and might be the worst division in NFL history. Except by might I mean definitely.”
I stand by it.
