Reggie Brooks Is Still the 1,000-Yard Man

    By Jamie Mottram | September 16, 2008

Many thanks to On 205th Magazine for reminding us of obscure 1,000-yard rushers of NFL past, a list featuring Reggie Brooks’ rookie season at #3. Somehow he managed to gain 1,063 on 4.8 yards/carry in 11 starts for a 4-12 team before becoming a non-factor thereafter. Let’s hope the same fate doesn’t befall Ladell Betts (1,000-yard ‘06 season on 4.7 yards/carry in nine starts for a 5-11 team), but, hey, this ‘93 Upper Deck sure is pretty.

Update: This Reggie Brooks touchdown run (via Kaduk) is a jaw-dropper.

I have never seen somebody flatly refuse to run between the tackles like Reggie used to. They’d call a dive and he’d find a reason to kick it outside for a four yard loss.

Heath Shuler, Leslie Sheperd, Henry Ellard and Reggie Brooks was one of the greatest offensive squads to wear the B and G. Those 1994 Throwbacks (NFL 75th) were gangster.

He was terrific for the Irish and I will always love him for catching the two-point conversion against Penn State in the Snow Bowl.
