Maryland Is Beating the Puke Out of Cal
By Jamie Mottram | September 13, 2008
Maryland’s a middling ACC team coming off a loss to Middle Tennessee State and Cal’s one of the Pac 10’s finest coming off a 63-point win at Washington State, so of course the Golden Bears are taking it to the Terps at College Park this afternoon … Wait, what’s that? Maryland’s up 21-6 at the half and literally knocked the insides out of Cal’s best player, Jahvid Best? Why yes, it seems they are, and it appears they did. Take a gander:
Kudos to Kevin Barnes (Maryland’s senior corner, not Of Montreal’s frontman) on the hit and ESPN’s broadcast on the aftermath. Now, let’s just hope that a) the score stands and b) Best’s bell stops ringing.
UPDATE: And it’s official. Maryland hangs on 35-27, Chris Turner completes 15-of-19 and Da’Rell Scott and Davin Meggett rush for 186 while Best gets 24. Great win for the Terps heading into Eastern Michigan next week and then the ACC schedule thereafter.
UPDATE #2: Ten things we learned today.

It’s only funny when opponents throw up on the floor of the Comcast Center.

How did that happen? Man I love MD but that was crazy, surprising upset after those first two games.
