Nats Celebrate One-Game Winning Streak
By Jamie Mottram | August 22, 2008
Nats win! ZOMG, the Nats win!
Washington snapped an MLB season-long 12-game losing streak with a win over Philly, disproving Chico Harlan’s theory that they’re “the most consistent team in baseball” (which was a well-played response to Ryan Zimmerman blaming their woes on “inconsistency”). So the Nats seem quite please with themselves:
“Acta reminded his club the streak was simply a number. He told them had they lost six in a row, won one, and then lost six more, the overall record in 13 games would be the same.”
Riiight. So now that they’re 1-12 over their past 13, things are just hunky dory. Closer Hanrahan:
“It’s a big weight off our shoulders … People writing about it everywhere, losing 12 in a row and whatnot. We just had to get that one and see where it takes us.”
I’m sure that getting a win was a relief, especially for Hanrahan, who’s been shaky yet recorded six outs for the save, but it’s not taking them anywhere but last place. Of course, it could be worse. They could be the Mariners, in last place themselves with just one more win yet double the payroll.
Update: And just like that the Nats win 13-5 in their next game on the strength of 11 RBI from Harris, Boone and Belliard. I’d rather those runs be generated by the likes of Zimmerman, Milledge and Bonifacio, but still.

Celebratory times in Nats brass land as Bowden tooled around bombed on his Segway and then put on his kneepads for his weekly session of Lerner family fellatio.
It is hard time figuring out which part of this franchise is more awful: Clint, the horrible product on the field or the whole dismal MASN TV operation.

Yay! I heart JH and was happy to see him get another save.

Hilariously, the Nats are destroying the Cubs at Wrigley right now, 13-5. Willie Harris hit his first career grand slam and just hit another 2-run homer. And that’s after being down 4-0 in the 5th.
