Skins-Jets Favrepalooza Winners, Losers
By Jamie Mottram | August 16, 2008
Loser: Brett Favre — When he wakes up in the morning, he’s still a Jet.
Winner: Rock Cartwright — Broke off a 73-yard run.
Loser: NFL Network — Played a Joe Namath interview about Favre over said 73-yard run.
Winner: The starters — No one hurt, and Ladell Betts will be OK.
Loser: Devin Thomas — Was on the field a lot, but I didn’t see one ball thrown his way.
Winner: Durant Brooks — Boomed a 59-yarder in his second preseason game. Incumbent Derrick Frost has topped that twice in three full seasons.
Loser: Daniel Snyder – Was hanging out with Tom Cruise. Again.
Winner: Marcus Mason — Is averaging 5.4 yards/rush on 43 carries through three games. If there were a preseason All-Pro team, he’d be on it.
Loser: The sport of football — This game was flat-out ugly.
Winner: Brennan-to-Goode – Game-winning TD in the 59th minute!
Loser: The Skins’ third-team defense — For doing their best to turn that game-winning TD into just a TD.
Bigger loser: The Jets — For going for a game-tying FG on 4th-and-goal rather than a game-winning TD of their own. In the preseason.
Biggest loser: Mike Nugent — For banging said FG off the goalpost.
Winner: My girl — She watched with me, feigning indifference all the while.

Winner: Redskins
Starters were way off tonight. Campbell took a step back.
Collins sill isnt getting this offense down.
Brennan gets it done. I know its scrubs, but there is a pattern here. He makes big plays.
I would like to see Collins traded to the Vikings, then have Zorn coax Dilfer out of retirement and help teach the offense to our QB’s.
Oh and that guy Devine is as good as gone.
And Jamie I I think pretty much since Elly was concieved the Redskins have only lost one game (playoffs).

Dilfer:Zorn::Collins:Saunders, kind of.

The Jets got what they deserved for attempted to send a fucking preseason game into overtime.
Devin Thomas is a monster in the slot position in Madden 09, for what it’s worth. Which is nothing, I believe.

PS. Douche.

Was at the game and the ovation Favre got when he came in was hilarious. Welcome to mediocrity, Jets fans!
Thomas did have a pass thrown to him in the 2nd quarter (I think). He dove on the right sideline to catch it but didn’t get his feet down. Beautiful catch though.
And yes, Thomas is sick in Madden. Through 8 games I have him with about 21 catches and 7 TDs. Slant pattern all day.

Aww, Jamie my dad used to do that with me, too!

Winner: Durant Brooks. Yes this is very true as Brooks’ monster foot singularly kicked the collective Jets’ ass.
Loser: Redskins secondary. Wow was that ugly, Carlos Rogers is either not fully rehabbed or just not good because that was repeated shoddy defense. The run defense was alright, but that secondary was ugly.
Biggest Winner: Mike Nugent. There is no way he was actually trying to make that field goal. The guy is a veteran and wouldn’t miss that. My bet is in the huddle or sideline or whatever his team is like “you miss this and we’ll buy you a pizza” and you know how much the Nuge loves his pizza pies. Nugent also let us all turn off this game sooner so I’d call him the winner.

Congrats on the kid, sorry I didn’t say that earlier.

Loser: Me
I continue to be out of range for Redskins preseason coverage while living in PA. I will get NFL Sunday Ticket, and my chi will be restored.

Okay Devin Thomas was thrown two passes. One, a deep loft down the sidelines by Collins which Thomas leapt over his defender for but failed to pull it in. And two, a sideline pass which Karry Bird Flu alluded to. Also, how gay is it that they got rid of the force out rule. That pass to Santana Moss on the sidelines was a catch goddammit!

I’m not sure I’d consider the rule change to be homosexual, and actually, I kinda like it. The less judgment calls the official have to make, the better.

Loser: Chad Rinehart
Loser: Byron Westbrook

Winner: Matterial Richardson
