The NFL Hall of Fame Has Low Standards

    By Chris Mottram | August 4, 2008

Via The Official Washington Redskins Blog (that name just rolls off the tongue, no?), is this disgrace from Canton:

Yes, your eyes do not deceive you: That is Mark Brunell’s jersey. It’s there to commemorate the game against the Texans two years ago in which Brutal set the NFL record for consecutive completions (22). Matt at the Skins Blog says it “certainly belongs there,” which I assume is satire.

I recall watching that game with Jamie and our buddy Andy, and mocking the “achievement” for two main reasons: 1) It came on nothing but five-yard-passes, one of which Portis took 74 yards (Brunell’s other 23 completions totaled 187 yards), 2) The record gave Gibbs another excuse to continue playing his Brother in Christ despite every sign imaginable that Brunell was dunzo. It was another two months before Campbell took over.

So, in conclusion, this jersey sucks.

Czaban wonders if the jersey has considered stepping aside to make room for a more deserving exhibit.

+1 UM (Did I do that right?)

This exhibit is a monument to the horizontal passing game.

Whatever those two bombs to Santana Moss in the cowboys game in ‘05 were the finest two minutes of football I’ve witnessed.

      …in ‘05

Bill Walsh frowns upon you from heaven.

Jim Zorn says see you in Hades, which is what he calls hell.
