John Ness Leaves FanHouse for NBC, Miss Gossip Takes Over at AOL Sports

When I left AOL for Yahoo!, I did so knowing that the mega-blog I’d created and hired dozens of bloggers to write for — FanHouse — was in good hands. Now those hands are no longer at the wheel as John Ness has left AOL for NBC to be Sports Managing Editor of their Local Integrated Media division.
Good for Ness, as he’s one of the most intelligent and reasonable people I’ve ever had the good fortune of working with. And it’s actually good for AOL too, as his springboard departure, like mine before it, allows for a new boss to assume leadership of the ‘House: Alana Nguyen A.K.A. Miss Gossip.
(Full disclosure: I’m totally in the bag for Miss G as I brought her to AOL in ‘06 to do her drawings, regard her interview with Greg Oden as one of the best things ever and have been photographed in a playhouse with her.)
Alana is the type who’s going to be very successful at something in this life, but you just don’t know what that something will turn out to be. It could be anything, and I’m glad to see that, for now, it’s running FanHouse.
My best to her, and certainly to Mr. Ness, who will do great things in his own right at NBC. Suddenly it feels like we’re all growns up.

Exceptionally well put on Miss G, sir. Someday there will be an MS Paint drawing of a woman with corn rows wiggling a beaker as she puts the finishing touches on a cure for malaria.

Lucky me, taking over after the two of you did all the dirty work! FanHouse will always have a place in its heart for its two blogfathers. *tear*
