Skinks are native to Northern VA, too – I used to see them in our yard all the time when I was a kid. So, as far as lizards and loose women are concerned, you moved all the way down there for nothing.

I think those are called “Skinks”, they are indigenous to North Carolina, not to be confused with “Skanks”, which are indigenous to Northern Virginia.

All in all, it seems that Skinks and Skanks love to fuck.
