Tiger Is Mentally Tougher Than You
By Chris Mottram | June 16, 2008
I can’t say this for certain, but I believe this new Tiger Nike commercial, featuring his father’s voiceover, made its debut yesterday. You know, for Father’s Day and stuff. As much as I enjoy rooting against Woods, this one gave me the goosebumps:
I cannot argue with Mr. Woods on this one. After this weekend, I’m pretty much convinced that Tiger will never meet anyone who’s better at anything than him. Ever.

He is amazing. The guy refuses to quit. Whatever you think of him personally you have to admire him professionally.

Let me guess Chris, Phil fan?
To echo 8845, whatever you think of him personally you have to admire him…
which got me to thinking, what isn’t likable about him, seriously? You’re watching the greatest athlete of our lifetime (yup, that’ right…it’s not will clark (sorry Jamie) and it ain’t MJ) chase a legend of the past and his 18 majors. Frankly you wouldn’t be watching if it were for Tiger, or we’d have to watch the 148th player in the world with a fricking Peace belt buckle play an emotionless Brit in the final round.

I don’t think Tiger’s unlikable, it’s just that he’s not all that likable either.
Also, for the record, I thought Rocco’s peace sign belt buckle swag was phenomenal.

Believe me, I fully appreciate Tiger as the greatest athlete in the history of sports. I just always root for the underdogs.

Man, when Tiger sank that putt, all I could hear was Earl Woods going Cha-ching, Cha-ching.
Is it more interesting to see Tiger win or to see if the random Tour member who played well on any given weekend try not to fold while playing against Tiger?

It actually debuted before the tournament began (Nike sent me an email), but I’m sure Nike bumped up the buy on Monday. They actually got Johnny Miller and other to talk about it coming back from commercial. Damn, those guys are good.
