Elijah Dukes Hits One of the Sweetest Walk-Offs These Eyes Have Ever Seen
By Jamie Mottram | June 5, 2008
And on Mr. Walk-Off A.K.A. Ryan Zimmerman Bobblehead Night no less!

So much to love about the 10th inning walk-off smash (video forthcoming down below via that fine fellow Brian Powell at Awful Announcing):
- It was Dukes’ first HR of the season. Finally.
- It snaps a four-game losing streak and came after blowing a 7-0 lead.
- Bill Simmons says you can gauge a team’s camaraderie by their homeplate celebrations. It appears the Nats get along swimmingly.
- The Gatorade shower that Lastings Milledge gave Dukes is priceless.
- Whatever was tied around his left ankle looks like a fashion tourniquet.
Of course this team is still shitty, but it’s nights like this that make us watch.
Congratulations, Elijah. Rejoice.

So it’s cool that I left after the 8th inning with my bobblehead to avoid the subway chaos, right? RIGHT?
/for shame

Elijah is sweating heavily becasue:
A) It is hot and humid in DC
B) Not really sweat, but gatorade
C) It is really hard to stand next to a woman and not choke the bitch out

This was a heartbreaking loss for the Cardinals, and I’m hoping this is the last time we Cards fans will see Mike Parisi in a starter’s role(come back Joél, and soon; please). In two starts, here’s his line:
6.2 IP, 18 H, 16 R, 13 ER, 7 BB, 3 K, with a 17.55 ERA. I’d almost rather see Anthony Reyes out there, almost
And if it was anyone other than Dukes, I might not be so upset, but I just don’t like him.

You just lost Ryan Zimmerman’s endorsement for D.C.’s favorite sports blog.

And here you said that there are no day games in Washington anymore. All it took was a wrath-of-God type thunderstorm and tornados…

Actually, the walk off came in the night cap. The day game was one of those nightmare games where you think you’re watching a minor league team. Otherwise known as “Thursday” for the Nationals.

That makes the third walk-off win for the Nats that I’ve seen at the park this year. Must be the shirt
