Madden ‘09 Thinks Collins > Campbell

    By Jamie Mottram | June 2, 2008

john-madden-young-and-sexy.jpgAt a BBQ yesterday, my friend Brian asked the guys huddled around the grill who should start for the Skins in ‘08: Campbell or Collins? None of us thought much of the question, but now that the Madden ‘09 ratings have been released, well, maybe it’s one worth asking. To quote MJD on Shutdown Corner:

Jason Campbell gets disrespected with an 84, while Todd Collins, still listed as the 2nd string quarterback, gets an 85.

So I’ll address this rating the same way I addressed Bull’s query, by stating that the reason Collins excelled after Campbell struggled is that TC had been in Al Saunders’ complex offense since JC was coming out of high school. Whereas Collins unleashed looping darts without even looking, Campbell not only had to look first but also think first. Now Saunders is out, Zorn Star is in and JC is the team’s finest option for the future and present. Then I took a swig of Sierra Nevada Summerfest and flipped some burgers.

In other Madden news, the NFC East is the highest-rated division, and the Redskins are the lowest-rated team therein (88). Of course, the highest-rated NFC West team is Seattle (87), and I want their schedule.

And in even more Madden news, I haven’t played the game since before Collins met Saunders, so I’m not sure what any of this means.

I live in NorCal so the Redskins playing @ SF this year is awesome. Open invite to tailgate for anyone who reads this that is going to the game in December
